Is Ro getting cut or not?

Isn't this kinda moot at this point considering he can't be cut until suspension is over? Correct?

Not sure. But I look at the Ravens who cut bait with Will Hill (a better player) before hisb10 game suspension was announced.

Teams know about this stuff beforehand, and it seems like if we wanted to act, then we would have preemptively done so.

Regardless, I'm disappointed.

Send a statement. Say he's completely barred from the team and that further action will be taken after week 10.

Ok, Internet GM.s, you can't cut a suspended player

yes you can......you can't cut him for a failing a drug test but you can cut him for salary cap or depth chart reasons....

Section 6.
NFL Drug and Steroid Policies:
No Club may impose any discipline against a player, including but not limited to terminating the player’s Player Contract, as a result of that Player’s violation of the Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances or the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, or for failing any drug test, provided, however, that the fact that a player has violated the Policy on Anabolic
Steroids and Related Substances or the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, or has failed a drug test will not preclude the termination of his Player Contract if such termination is otherwise expressly permissible under this Agreement or the player’s Player Contract

The harm is in the message being sent. They are showing guys the only real consequences are from the league. I wasnt in favor of cutting Ro for missing voluntary OTAs but this is much different. When you put it altogether its even worse.

Sending a message is over rated at times. These guys know the eventual consequences and the rules. It's different then sending a message for a guy being late or falling asleep in meetings.
If they are able to cut him now, then who does it send a message too? The ones that don't do the drugs, don't need a message sent. They ones that do, are out no matter if cut or get caught.

I am not defending him by any means, I prefer they just cut him too. But I can understand why he won't be either.

A suspended players salary does not count toward the cap while he is suspended.

Exactly.

The "send a message" stuff... is well... stuff.

It worked for Jimmy. He would have won at least 5 straight Super Bowls too.

A suspended players salary does not count toward the cap while he is suspended.

But it counts when he comes back and a team might want to dedicate those resources to another player that they might lose if they wait until after the suspension is over

Technically McClain is not suspended until the Tuesday before Week One

pre salary cap...from asthma guys to sleeping guys, marginal players at best.....any drug related guys / incidences? think not.
It may have worked when he cut Richards for the fumbles, but doubt it had that huge of an overall impact.

As for 5 SB's, but maybe but can't sat for sure. Which that has nothing to do with this.

Well, then when he is eligible to return, address it at that time. Why be concerned with it now. It does not help or hurt in any way.

Last time I knew, the Tuesday before game one, the cap isn't effected by this either.

How much is he effect the cap right now? I think dead money would be $750,000 if I looked at it right.
Base pay is $1.25 million, with incentive $3.375 million. well none of that factors in right now. I am pretty sure they can't sign a guy for $750,000 that may be able to help in week 11. If they decide to keep him.

What are you on about???? Of course it could be a factor right now......they could use the 3m to sign a replacement that could play for 16 games and not just 6 if he's lucky

Salary cap is just one legal reason to cut him now....being out of shape is another...falling down the depth chart is another...he has to really shine in TC if DAL doesn't have the sense to cut him now...

Sure it does. We're comparing the culture of both teams - his well oiled machine vs. this steaming pile of ****.
