Sure it does. We're comparing the culture of both teams - his well oiled machine vs. this steaming pile of ****.

The thread title is about Ro getting cut, not comparing teams 20 years apart, one with a salary cap, one with out a salary cap.

What are you on about???? Of course it could be a factor right now......they could use the 3m to sign a replacement that could play for 16 games and not just 6 if he's lucky

Salary cap is just one legal reason to cut him now....being out of shape is another...falling down the depth chart is another...he has to really shine in TC if DAL doesn't have the sense to cut him now...

Ok...then tell us who this player would be...who is out there to go get that helps immediately for 16 games. And not an aged old progress stopper vet. Say, less than 30 and has proved to be able to make a lot of plays.
So swap salary cap space for what player?

Threads evolve. The main problem this thread addresses is culture and lack of accountability.

Send a statement. Say he's completely barred from the team and that further action will be taken after week 10.

Ahh, he is barred from the team while suspended and further action can not be taken till after week 11(bye week) when suspension is completed. That date is Monday November 21st. That's when McClain will be cut and you will finally get your satisfaction.

If by chance McClain miraculously is not cut, being that Dallas plays 3 days later on Thanksgiving. He would only be available for the final 5 games of the season.

I don't think Dallas is going to keep McClain on for those few games. There are no miracles, McClain gets cut.

We can actually cut him now.

Players serving a suspension, on injured reserve or injured reserve with a designation to return, and players starting the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list do not count against the active 53-man roster.

Teams will need to move players to the reserve/suspended list on final roster cuts from 75 players to the 53-man roster.

3.2 Suspensions

3.2.1 Suspension Procedures During any suspension, the Player will not receive any pay, including pay for any post-season game that he misses because of his suspension, except as provided by Article 37 of the CBA. Notwithstanding, if a bye week occurs during a suspension period, the Player will receive his compensation for the bye week in equal installments over the remainder of the season after expiration of his suspension for as long as he is under contract and with the Club that he was under contract with at . (2015) 22 the time of the commencement of his suspension. The disciplinary period will begin on the date set in the NFL’s notification to the Player of his suspension, subject to any appeal. If there are fewer than the prescribed number of games remaining when the suspension begins, including any post-season games for which the Club qualifies, the suspension will continue into the next regular season until the prescribed number of games has been missed. Players who are free agents will serve their suspension as if they had a contract with a Club. With regard to all suspensions other than a banishment imposed pursuant to Stage Three of the Intervention Program, the Player shall be eligible to participate in all off-season (not including post-season games) and pre-season Club functions, training programs, practices, pre-season games and meetings through the date of the Club’s last pre-season game in the next NFL season. Additionally, the Player shall be eligible, at the discretion of the Club, to participate in all in-season Club functions, training programs and meetings, but not in any in-season games or practices. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a Player may not participate with his team in joint press conferences with team officials on or off Club premises. A Player banished pursuant to Stage Three of the Intervention Program may not participate with his Club in any way except to see his Treating Clinician for treatment purposes on Club property, but he must vacate the premises immediately following termination of the treatment session with the Treating Clinician. In addition, the Club’s Director of Player Engagement may have bi-weekly telephone contact with any banished Player as appropriate. Any suspension period may be extended if medically necessary, and, if extended, may involve mandatory treatment if required by the Medical Director in his discretion.

3.2.2 Post-Season Treatment of Suspension or Fine Any suspension without pay imposed pursuant to the terms of this Policy shall include post-season games played by the Player’s Club if, at the time of suspension, an insufficient number of games remain in the regular season to complete the suspension. Similarly, any fines remaining owed at the conclusion of the regular season will continue to be deducted from the Player’s post-season compensation, if any, in accordance with the provisions of Section 3.1 above, except as provided below. If a Player would otherwise qualify for a payment of post-season compensation pursuant to Article 37 of the CBA, such postseason pay shall not be affected by administrative actions imposed pursuant to the terms of this Policy.

I'm sure Jerry knew this suspension was coming and he still did nothing. That tells me we are going to ride this out 1 last year. He should've been replaced by now. At first he was a good bridge player but now we have relied on him way too long. We know what he is.

Still not sure about cutting a player while suspended, ie, can you do it. But I think you can based on the fact they may remain in the intervention program. Does anyone know for certain?

Sending a message is over rated at times. These guys know the eventual consequences and the rules. It's different then sending a message for a guy being late or falling asleep in meetings.
If they are able to cut him now, then who does it send a message too? The ones that don't do the drugs, don't need a message sent. They ones that do, are out no matter if cut or get caught.

I am not defending him by any means, I prefer they just cut him too. But I can understand why he won't be either.

I think they know the consequences with the league office but they dont know the consequences with the team, hell no one does.

The message is for the entire team this kind of crap wont be tolerated, your contract will not be honored if this happens.

Besided that he cant be good for morale or as an example to the younger guys. How would you feel if you were working your tail off to win a superbowl and you had this piece of work collecting a check.

It's demoralizing. There are players on the team who are trying to do the right thing and they are treated the exact same way as this guy, who was penciled in to be a starter. That is a terrible culture for a team to have.

It's such a shame, this guy could be the best MLB in the game, I mean he comes on our team in 2014 , retired , and plays at a pro bowl level whilenot even being in football shape, if this guy just had a brain and was passionate about football. What a waste. As soon as we can we should kick this waste to the curb

Demeco Ryans could be one or Justin Durant or expand your thinking a little and go for a trade

That is not the point.....it was said that a player could not be cut when suspended and I showed the CBA language that showed they could be....one way is to claim they are being cut to save cap space, regardless whether they use it immediately or not.....that is the reason given to the NFL

McClain is now useless to us....he misses 10 weeks....has to train on his own and will burn another house down and get suspended again for getting high

CUT HIM and move on...just like they finally realized with Randle

The harm is in the message being sent. They are showing guys the only real consequences are from the league. I wasnt in favor of cutting Ro for missing voluntary OTAs but this is much different. When you put it altogether its even worse.

Well if your going to be hardline, and set examples, enforce discipline, then you dont wait for suspensions,
both gregory and Ro should have been cut after they failed a 2nd test.
After they fail a first test, tell them another fail and they are gone, and then if they fail a 2nd time cut them.
Ro has failed 5 tests, and people are just now saying get rid of him.
Gregory has failed 4 tests, and people want to keep him.

To be honest, I don't know. We allowed Greg Hardy to pull all the stunts he did and still get more playing time than anyone else.

If McClain is allowed to stay on the team I'll be very disappointed. Enough is enough. This is happening too often on this team. There has to be accountability.

As much as I want to believe in Garret's RKG, it's all BS! I think Garret wants to set the team the correct way but the front office keeps destroying the team.

I actually defended Hardy initially, but then the pics surface and when he was late for team meeting etc and Garret. Kept playing him- really?!

How can you say RKG and yet keep putting up with this BS.

Life long CBOy fan and always will be, but this is getting stupid.

Im sure the delay is just Jerry trying to figure out if he should get a job as an assistant quality control coach or marketing department while he is suspended. Got to find a way to stash that talent.
