Is Romo as good as we think he is?

Don't get me wrong, I've been blown away by Romo and the fact that an un-drafted guy can perform as well as he has, but my question is can he keep it up?

I know most Cowboy fans have suffered with the QB position since Aikman left, and for Romo to come in and perform like he has has us all waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Is he just a great football talent? Does he have that intangible quality that can't be taught that makes the great quarterbacks what they are? What happens when he has a bad game? He had a shaky performance after being thrown to the wolves in the first Giants game, but since then he is 3-1 and played almost flawlessly in the Washington game and did all he could to put us in a position to win that game.

I'm absolutely in love with Romo but I just can't begin to fathom how an undrafted Division I AA player has been able to do what he has done in football's biggest stage.

I guess only God makes great quarterbacks.

Mix in some good athleticism and pocket awareness (plus a little moxie :D)along with talented teammates on the offensive side of the ball and you have a recipe for good quarterbacking. While we don't know how he'll fare in the longterm, there IS one thing for certain.... That he is a better qb for the Dallas Cowboys than Drew Bledsoe...

He's smart, accurate, poised, and has moxie, it's a deadly combination of traits.

Well I guess Irvin has some Polish in him because he certainly says some very stupid things.

(Of course I am being facetious)

Who knows? The future looks bright, but I'm just enjoying the now. If people want to say he's gonna fall off as people plan for him, let 'em. It's baloney. Maybe he falls off if we lose offensive talent. He has one of the best receiving tandems in the NFL to throw to. I doubt it, tho - as Romo sees the field as well as anyone in the NFL, and the second you're open (and it doesn't matter who "you" are) you're getting the ball.

It may all be a fluke, and fall apart in the future, but my eyes say otherwise. He's not lucking himself into these stats or chucking the ball up for his talented WRs to go get like a Grossman or Culpepper. He's a field general. I want to have his children.

I think this next game will tell us all.
To play against our arch rival , in their house, at this time of the year, will tell us if he's as good as we think.

I for one think so.

If he faulters this week it just means he needs more time.

But he IS our future.:starspin

I'm getting tired of hearing about Romo being undrafted. Do you mean undrafted by the same people who drafted Ryan Leaf, Rick Meirer, What's his name Klingsbury, Akili Smith etc. etc. The draft is an inexact science (probably art actually) and drafting QB's is like playing the numbers. They miss on as many as they hit on. Romo seems to have many of the skills that don't get measured at the combines like leadership, pocket presence etc. and of course the bias against anyone who comes from 1AA. He's shown enough talent to stick around on an NFL roster for 4 yrs under the eye of Bill Parcells. That alone tells me the draft gurus were just wrong and that's good enough for me. By the way, Johnny Unitas was drafted in the 16th round. That's way below "undrafted" in the current 7 round format.

And of course I could be all wrong. I'm waiting to see how Romo reacts to his 1st bad game. How he reacts to that and adjusting to other teams taking things away will tell us all we need to know. Hopefully, we don't find out next week.

Three things tell me he is a Good QB.

1st thing is Bill Parcells is his coach. One of the hardest for a QB to please, especially if the Vet QB is healthy.

2nd A VET QB healthy on the bench, who was hand picked by BP because of product knowledge. The QB being a BP guy, who had the endorsement from the owner, was benched for him.

3rd His teammates believe in him, especially a QB hater(Garcia & Mcnabb) like TO. And his stats say he can perform at the NFL level. Now if he had those stats because the starter was hurt and he had to hold down the fort until the starter came back( no pressure because nothing high is expected) then the other shoe will eventually fall. But a healty Vet QB on the bench, with a hard nose coach who is tuff on QBs, and those stats....No brainer.

Only morons thought he did. And QC fans. (There is overlap in those two groups)

Anyone with any objectivity in them knew the guy was a complete turd that brought nothing to the table.

It's hard to tell because half the qb's in the league would like to have our running backs(just ask Denver, they took Tatum Bell over Julius), our receivers(ask Denver, the Dolphins, the Pats, etc.) and Jason Witten at tight end. It would be pretty hard to mess up that supporting cast, unless, your name is Bledsoe, plus, we're playing in the NFC, the JV conference and even our own division is a mess right now. We'll be able to tell better next year about Romo when the NFC gets back to itself.

You're putting Culpepper in the same category as Grossman. Grossman is struggling, even though all his backs and receivers are healthy and the rest of the NFC sucks.

Romo does a great job reading the defense, fiding the open man quickly and he has a good quick release and extreamly accurate with his throws. Add to that he has the players around him who believe in him and Romo is showing himself as a very good leader who comes through in pressure situations. Yes he is for real.
