NFL QBs typically have a 2 year decline in ability at the end of their careers. Its amazing how often this occurs. The clever ones recognise when they are in 'year 1' and dont come back for 'year 2'.
Symptoms of being in this phase of career include;
- not being able to practice every day.
- regular injuries.
- putting on weight, looking softer.
- not as consistent.
- showing some signs of deminished abilities.
Personally, I think Romo is in year 1 of this decline. Still able to play well, but showing signs. Next year he won't be as good and if he's still here in 2017, it will be bad for all parties.
We need to draft a QB in the first round in 2016. Otherwise we're in serious trouble. We've a good young roster capable of going all the way. Would be a shame to waste it on not preparing for the inevitable.
