Romo is not sucking me in because I was never against him. He is not and never has been a problem for this team. Coaching is and has been our biggest issue by a long shot. Romo more often than not carries this team and for all the griping that he cost us playoff spots in the past, well if not for him we would never even sniff the playoffs. We are lucky to have him. How easily people forget the years between Aikman and Romo.

I'm a Romo fan however he'll have to prove his worth these last 4 games.

He has proved his worth over and over and over again.

its time for the defense to prove its worth. Time for the defense to win a game late for this team. We need the defense to go into Chicago and make sure this offense doesn't have to put 40 points on the board on a cold Monday night in Chicago....the fans are going to be nuts, A. they are playing Dallas, B. its Monday night and C. its mike Ditka night and they are retiring his jersey(or whatever) that night.

lets see the defense stop forte and not give up 500 yards and 40 points.

If we are going to do anything in December it is all on the defense to not be terrible.

I definitely agree about the defense however Romo is a $100 million QB, he's gotta put the team on his back.

Hell, look at some of the aikman years when he had a lousy defense or was a few players short on offense. it wasn't pretty.

Aikman was awful in the 98 playoff game against Arizona, we were a 7 point favorite and essentially got shut out at home.

even if you go back to that 96 game at Carolina aikman was not very good.

Aikman threw for barely 160 yards in each of his two final playoff appearances ever.

It happens. the team has to be good to win games in the playoffs. there are times when the qb can raise the team to incredible levels and win when they shouldn't, for instance Elway did it twice against the browns but even that second one took an incredible miscue from the browns.

Pretty much no quarterback can carry a team in the postseason in the matter that is always talked about, its a myth. If it wasn't Peyton manning would have about 5 or 6 rings. Instead he has 1 and the 1 he got he was awful for the first two playoff games and they won on defense.

bottom line. If romo had the same career in Cleveland or San Diego or Miami they would be killing the organization for the poor defense's, running games etc.......instead he plays in Dallas where right away people are looking to tear you down and not build you up.

I watched the bengals chargers game sunday and dan fouts was talking about the incredible career Phillip rivers has had and how they will retire his number in SD someday and he will go down as one of the all timers. Really? Rivers is 3-4 in the post season for his career. He played in one of the worst divisions in the league for years, he had one of the better running games for years and a defense that hit the qb. he has not played in a playoff game since 09. he was the 4th pick in the draft.

and they are retiring his jersey as an all timer, yet Romo is a choker who fans cant wait to rid themselves of.

it makes my head explode.

more empty hyperbole.

The team has been on his back since the night he took over in Carolina and that has been the problem.

now this year they added co-offensive coordinator to his job title because of the inability of the staff to get things done.

This organization is brilliant.

Let's bring some realism to this homer party.

Romo's has beaten only 1 team over .500 this year. In the one game he won against a team over .500. he threw 2 interceptions, a fumble, and managed to manufacture 1 score from a drive, and that was against Philly. So why should I be optimistic against a perennial failure when all he beats are sorry to mediocre teams? His defense saved him in the Philly game, that defense played like the 85 bears. NY Giants offense outscores ours, but thanks to J Heath who scored a TD, we outscore the Giants.

And we beat a last place in their division sorry raider team on the backs of, NOT Romo, but the running backs of all things. So beating sub .500 teams don't impress me. If Romo actually takes us to an NFC championship game, I will start looking at him differently. If he takes us to a Super Bowl, I may get on board. If he wins one, I will be buy his Jersey and proclaim him great. I don't want to hear **** about the team needs to perform because this thread isn't about the team, it's about just Romo. So obviously the only time you guys mention it is when someone like me asked for championships, then the team term comes out.

Umm, one of the interceptions was an end of the half hail mary that actually should have been caught and the other pick was on the running back for screwing up the play.

the fourth qtr of the game we essentially sat on the ball and there was no need to try and score.

try watching the game and not reading the stat sheet.

oh and romo had an excellent 4th qtr in Detroit and should have won the game on his arm, against a division leading above .500 team. But you know, this defense just cant finish things off here.

Going forward to win every game the ball will need to be in romo's hands in the end, whether to tie or win or just hold a lead I don't know, but in order to win it will need to be in his hand in every game we play from here on out.

if its up to the defense we will lose every time.

All your believing hasn't won us jack mr fan, so try showing us why Romo can't win. Oh, I get it, it's the team. Yet, this thread is not about the team. And by the way, the defense won us the philly game, but I'm guessing you don't care about that.

yep, the team played well in philly. that is why we won.

And to make your comments even more laughable, broaddus told the story of how on the plane on the way home romo was sitting with mickey and bryan watching film of the game and said to them this was nice, I haven't had many of these in my career.....meaning the defense played well enough that it wasn't down to him to put 40 on the scoreboard or have to go back out and tie it up again after the defense blew it.

Damn right he was the weakest link. Sorry *** allowed the skins to rush for 274 yards---200 by Alfred Morse alone!

Damn that Romo!

That same defense gave Tony turnover the ball back down by only 3 points with 3 minutes to go and all 3 timeouts left! What does Tony do on FIRST DOWN? Throws a big fat pick to end the game just like everyone knew he would. The 3rd turnover of the game by him and all of them his fault.

The weakest link in that game was 100% Tony Romo. I don't care what he does in the regular season, I want a QB that doesn't meltdown in win and you're in games or in the playoffs. Romo is mediocre or bad in these games when we need him most.

When you can't even point the finger at Romo for the Washington loss that ended our season in 2012, that is when you KNOW your homerism has reached an unrealistic/unhealthy level.

Some of you are holding on and thinking maybe this year will be different while a select few of us already know whats coming.

Yep.

Without Romo we wouldn't even be playing for anything in December.

He's the best player on the roster and the only reason why this team has a puncher's chance.

Like a recent article stated, it's not about whether Romo can play at a high enough level to win in December. It's whether his supporting cast can.

And yes Romo had a bad game. Odd how that some forget the previous 5 games leading up to that one.

But back to the actual game:
  • No Run game...at all.
  • Busted ribs
  • Terrible protection
  • Completely out-coached gameplan-wise
  • Road division game with loud crowd, vs a red-hot team
  • No Lee and No Carter
  • basically No Ware
then down the stretch:
  • No Dez
  • No Harris
  • No Austin
  • No Beasley

Completely and totally stacked odds that almost nobody can or ever has overcome.
I really would like for someone to name one QB who has ever overcome those odds and won in that situation.
Yet some still point to that game.

Great post.

I feel less is more with Romo. Once he starts having to throw the ball more than 36 times in a game (9 attempts per quarter), the team gets into trouble. Sooner or later, he's going to turn the ball over. And he's likely not nearly as effective. He clearly needs the team to run the ball. The Oakland game was a good example of why running the ball helps a team. They ran the ball terribly in the first half. But, they stuck with the run and it wore the Raiders defense down and they started to run the ball well. And now the Raiders were looking to stop the run and that set up big plays with play-action.

The less he audibles, the better the team does. So much audibling is bound to cause some confusion by the other players. If you audilble a bunch of times before the snap, the receivers may get the audible and most of the O-Line may get the audible, but perhaps Doug Free doesn't get it and misses their assignment. The fans will automatically blame Free for missing an assignment, but Romo didn't do him any favors. This is what ticked me off a bit about the Dunbar injury. Romo kept audibling, waited to the last nanosecond to snap the ball and the Raiders DB could perfectly time his attack AND get a good idea of where Romo was going with the ball. He did that and Tyron Smith stood little chance to block and Dunbar had no chance and got injured.

He can be very frustrating in that sense. And that's why I blame a big part of the offense's inconsistency on the coaching staff. They need to force him to stop audibling out of running plays. They need to force him to stop audibling so much and Romo's footwork was pretty poor for the first 10 games of the season and I wonder where Wade Wilson was to not only help him with that, but to make sure it didn't get sloppy in the first place.

However, the fact in all of this is that at the amount of money Romo is making he has to play very well and has to lead this team to victories otherwise the fans are going to hold it against him. I hope he does it for us, but I think the team is foolish if they don't start preparing themselves for a replacement soon.

Yeah, it just so happens that Romo handles the ball on every single snap. You are kidding yourself if you don't think the QB plays the most important role on a team. A QB with bad play can sink a team all by himself. Look to the 2012 Washington game for proof.

Also, a slight correction to an earlier post from a realist. We have not beaten a team over .500 this year. Philly was 3-3 when we played them. The last chance we get to beat a team over .500 will probably be against Philly in the last game of the season.

If Romo has a solid game and LEADS the team to victory, every fan will rejoice.. homers and realists, yet the homers will tell the realists "I told ya so", if Romo chokes, the realists will tell the homers "I told ya so" and the homers will say it wasn't Romo's fault, his TEAM wasn't good enough, regardless of how bad Tony plays. Again, see the Commanders game last year for proof.

I don't like the talk of how great he's doing. I don't like the talk of how well any of our guys are playing whether it be Lee, Tyron, Romo. Just stay under the radar.
