i've not watched basketball in quite awhile but dirk to me was good, great at times, but too inconsistant to really matter in the end.
I have and do watch a lot of basketball. If you remember Kevin Garnett used to have the same reputation. Look at his career with the Timberwolves. He was always awful in the playoffs. Now people dont say that about him anymore. Now he can do no wrong.
The problem isnt Dirk is horrible. The problem is that teams double him with enough intensity in the playoffs and no one else on the team can step up to make them pay.
Dirk is a great player. But he needs to have another dangerous weapon playing with him. He is a amazing shooter who can and will beat anyone 1 on 1. But if he is getting the double team then that means someone else is open and they need to step up. Garnett had the same problems earlier in his career before he became surrounded with hall of famers Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.
Now about Romo. Football is such a team game that its not possible to say he sucks in the clutch. We have to look at so many factors. The media is all over Big Stupid Rothlisberger like he is perfect. But he has done nothing more than manage a game while the defense won the games for them. All he has to do is not F up. If you put him on this team who knows what would happen. He would feel much more pressure to make plays. He wouldnt have the Steel Curtain to bail him out. He would probably look average at best.
Romo is more than capable of winning the big game. He has show time and time again the ability to drive us down the field when it matters and win the games.
I think the real question is does our gameplan and offensive line have enough intelligence to protect him when faced with an aggressive defense?
Or are we going to continue to let teams press and pressure us without making them pay.
Romo and TO both called Jason Garrett out last year when they said teams have figured us out. Its true. They have. Now its Garretts turn to counter.
