Is Schoonmaker playing better or just someone has to play?

Too early to have a serious discussion about this, but IF Schoon has turned the corner a bit it makes Ferg into a very nice trade piece this offseason. He is a guy that could probably net you a day 2 pick and save probably $15M against the 2026 cap.

He's the next guy up. Better catcher than he is blocker. I think he looks better mostly because he is getting more opportunities.

The classic ‘one mistake fuels the next.’

The DT selections left them awful at the position so they reached for Mazi at the same time they were determined to get a TE to replace Schultz.

Exactly the same as the Kelvin Fatman or whatever he called himself pick.

The kick in the rear is that they usually over estimate what they have in younger players, but didn’t with Ferguson.

This is what happens when you refuse to find the cap space to sign free agents. Again…one mistake fuels the next.
We have to go back to drafting best player available and fill immediate needs in FA.

This has been true for a long time. When we had Witten, the second TE went to waste.
We also can not run the ball in short yardage situations. Send out 3 TE's, and the defense will substitute accordingly. Then spread them out and let's see how they cover 3 big TE's.

I would love to see a CB or LB on 6'7, 270 Spann-Ford.

Just don’t watch his ‘blocking’ on those first two FG attempts. Both reps were rough.

The blocked FG was really bad. Let a guy go free to the inside, and didn’t get a hand on the guy who went to his outside as well. Basically just stood there watch both guys get to his kicker.

He's starting to look more comfortable in the passing game. Still needs to work on blocking but he and Spann-Ford and showing up when being called upon. Just needs more reps.....baby steps i guess!

His PFF run blocking score was terrible for the game and has been all season

I remember when they signed Leonard Davis….which actually worked out.

I clearly recall them saying…. “this is what has to be done when you miss on a high draft pick.”

Something changed since then.

I mean it’s unbelievably unbelievable that they haven’t signed a major free agent in 13 years. Yeah sure they had the 12 win seasons, but just maybe one or two is a championship if you used the same player acquisition methods that the rest of the league does.
