Is Shemar James an option to start at MLBer?

Don't see how this question can even be answered. He night not even be on the team let alone a starter option.
Since Shemar showed major signs of becoming a players last season, what exactly makes you think he won't make the roster?

Roquan Smith: 6’1”, 235
Fred Warner: 6’3”, 230
Overshown: 6’3”, 230
Nick Bolton: 5’11”, 237
Zack Bain: 6’3”, 225

Shemar James: 6’1”, 235

You may have forgotten to turn over your calendar from 1995

:)
Ray Lewis: 6-1/240 96-2012

What major sign did you see? Besides the blitz against daniels can you point me to a play that was impressive?

A play? W/ a team leading 86 tackles he had several. From the experts: "showed flashes in 2025."

James is faster'n a wink and covers fairly well already. "Reads his keys well and finds the holes quick. Pays close attention to the QB and tracks the ball well around the field."

You rate players on one play? No joke? Hmmmmmmmm

Since you're quoting so called experts pff graded him the 4th worst lb in the league. But go ahead and plant your flag on him bud. You win

Curtis Robinson, another ex-49ers player is pretty big as well. Overshown is getting bigger too.

I keep forgetting about Robinson. It is possible that Overshown will end up as the Mike with Winters as the Will to keep him uncovered. However, I think Overshown's best asset is his speed so having him at Mike sort of negates the freedom to just fly to the ball. Of course, maybe Parker will do some different things to try to free up the linebackers more, but offenses are looking to get big ol' linemen on linebackers to open up the run. You've got to have some who can stack and shed, which is supposed to be a strength for Barham.

Based on his highlights (all I know about him), Barham looked very fast going side to side, so I thought I recall being surprised that someone with the team claimed he would be used inside. They know better than me, so…
When he played linebacker (before last year), he showed the ability to take on blocks and shed them, and i think we felt that we needed some of that at MLB. We've got sideline-to-sideline runners, but are short on ILBs who can stick their nose in the hole and not be rooted out. Overshown, Winters and James are best served outquicking blockers instead of taking them on.

Barham may ultimately end up at OLB, particularly if he can't master coverage, but I think he's exactly what we need at ILB against the run.

I think I remember his college coach saying he could play any LB position. W/ his elite short area quickness and excellent bend and ability to slip blocks, you'd sure think he would be good at MLB.

I've noticed that sometimes the most improved players are the ones that coaches don't say much about.

I think that they mention some young player's improvement to increase their confidence or boost their trade value.

It's all part of the game and sometimes the strategic use of information to the media or lack thereof, is a chess move.

I'll be happy to allow the coaches to decide who's destined to become our MLB. That's what they're there for -- I'm pretty sure there's a good chance for that to happen. The one performing the best in camp should get the opportunity to do so in the season opener and beyond. It's a tried-and-true method of making that decision.

You are weird.
I know I know. I'm weird for referencing experts the same as you. I know. Again, you win bud. Clearly that's what you were searching for so I conceded. You're still whining like a Lil you know what?

I like James a lot very good value for a 5th rounder . I think the middle is playing him out of position . He has speed would rather see him as Will with the ability to send him after the QB as a heat seeking missle as he did against Jayden Daniels .

I really think Barham is going to turn out to be one of our best picks in this draft. Obviously, I can't prove that, but I feel that he only ended up being taken in the third round because of his coach's decision to move him to end because of need. He spent most of last season learning how to be an end while he was on his way to becoming one of the top linebackers in this draft if he had been kept at that position. From everything I've read and seen, his tape from 2024 at linebacker was much better than his tape from 2025 at end.

That's one reason it's going to be interesting to see how Parker uses his linebackers. I believe Dean was the Mike for Philly last year (when he was healthy) and liked to send him after the QB.

And he was often hurt
