Is Taco a change in philosophy?

Taco seems to be the anti Demarcus Ware. Ware had power but his biggest asset was speed and agility.

Tacos game seems to be pure power. That seems to be similar to how the Seahawks approach the DL.

I really expect Taco to be moved to the left DE because of his speed limitations. That doesn't mean he can't be a good end, just not an elite end with speed

Jerry the GM says they drafted him to play right end. If they really believe this does it indicate a departure from what they have previously looked for in a DE?

Looking purely at comparing measurables, Taco actually shows more speed and agility than Ware did. At least where it counts for a DE, 10 yard split and three cone.

Taco
10 Yrd Dash: 1.63
3-Cone Drill: 4.87

Ware
10 Yrd Dash: 1.70
3-Cone Drill: 6.83

Ware is the more explosive athlete with greater long speed and better vert and broad jump, which is why is was so well suited to stand up in the 3-4.

Taco is also considerably larger coming out, almost 30lbs heavier. He will need to develop his body, get stronger. And hopefully work on his lower body explosion.

I think folks are vastly over looking his abilities and are simply looking at a fairly pedestrian 40 time.

Just a side note, Terrell Suggs ran a 4.84 40 weighing in at 258lbs. 10 yard split was in the 4.7 range. 33 inch vert.

Not that I put a huge amount of stock in these numbers, but Ware's 10 yard split time at the combine in 2005 was 1.62. Charlton's 10 yard split from the combine wasn't made available, and his 3 cone time was 7.17 compared to Ware's 6.85. Ware is unquestionably quicker and more agile than Charlton, both to the eye and the watch.

If you think Taco is more explosive than Ware I think you have on rose colored glasses. No way in hell.

My bad. I was using NFL Draft Scouts numbers.
