Is the Cooper Rush signing a bigger deal than we know?

Do the Cowboys see Rush as the starter in a bridge role next year?

We take a QB this year - Like the kid from Tennessee and - we buy Dak out - Rush starts next year ( and maybe beyond ) at a super low cap hit: while the young QB marinates .

Skip Bayless thinks we have a gem In Rush - maybe he’s right for once in his life.

I really don't understand why people are fascinated with Rush as the starter. Literally no other team wanted to sign him in a starter role or he wouldn't be here. Good backups are starters with at least one significant limitation and Cooper's is his arm strength. If he didn't have anticipation he wouldn't complete a pass because the ball takes a long time to get to the target.

Yes, Dak had more interceptions but simply look at the PPG with Dak in versus Rush. This is not a real conversation.

Agree 100%. This is a non-conversation. Cooper Rush would be a bottom 3 starter in the league over a full season. You will go absolutely no where with that kind of QB play even with a vet minimum salary. To be even having this conversation is downright bizarre to me at this point.

For people to claim that Dak isn't even a starting quality NFL QB shows how dishonestly they are approaching this topic. Is he an NFL quality starter? Without a doubt yes. Is he overpaid for what he brings to the table? Yes. This things are not mutually exclusive, but most people here are incapable of nuanced thought.

No, Cooper Rush is the backup that needs to be watching over his shoulder if we take a QB in the draft at some point. He is not a starting caliber QB or he would have been signed to be a starter by another team this offseason.

lets not forget. Dallas cut him last year. we were down to one QB on the roster. no team made him an offer. not even for back up. then we made our moves, etc. and resigned him

this off season he had no offers. but Bash Dak over Dallas cult is pumping up their Rush Crush because that's what they are.

As little as I believe in Dak (I no longer do), Rush is a good backup for him. He's not really a starter and isn't the answer. The future QB that might lead us to greatness hasn't been drafted yet.

Would you be shocked if Rush is stating by week 5,6 if Dak starts terribly ?

Yup. The second hardest thing to find in football is a back up who can win multiple games.

Everyone knows he’s not a starter
But he’s a smart guy and isn’t a bad backup
He wouldn’t have came back if anyone in the league thought he was a starter
ok first how many teams need a starting qb right now? Not many, and those that do want a vet with more experience than rush,
and some want to draft a guy this season.
How many of those would want dak if he were available?

Dak fans blame his poor year on weak at wr position, elliot as main rb, the OL, and KM as OC..
Well when rush was starting, he didnt have gallup, or ty hilton he only had noah and lamb tolbert feheko.
He had elliot as main rb with pollard not being used much, no tyron smith, and KM as OC.

And he did pretty good with what he had . his first game they beat cin , a team who wound up in afc champ game.

The loss to phil, was a bad game plan by dallas, and phil was unbeaten, wound up winning nfc champ and barely lost the sb on last second fg!
He was playing them in phil with only playing in 4 games as a starter in 22.
Dak was ready to play but jerry held him back so he would not be embarrassed by phil.
They made rush play, and at that point there was no way dallas could beat phil even if dak had played.

Is rush better than dak, I think in some ways yes and in some ways no.
Rush only lost 1 game , to a SB bound nfc champ team, and was then dumped back on the bench.
Is rush a bonafide starter? hard to say with him only playing the 5 games, but you cant really say he isnt either.

like any qb who hasnt played much, it is hard to prove you are, without more games played.

people say well the defense won those games, but dont you think the same defense helps dak win games ?? lol.
and we all know the only way rush starts for dallas again is if dak gets hurt again.

There has never been a starting QB in the NFL w/ an arm as weak as Rush's. Never will be.
