I agree with you, I'm not going to say they are Doomsday level but they are pretty darn close. We shore up the run game and we're there. This defense is special. And as the OP.stated they have held teams to fewest points since 73. You have to take into account who we played and the era we're playing in. Tampa Bay has Tom Brady. So holding him to under 20 is impressive. Bengals are good and can score points, Giants and Washington are meh offensively but when you take on account all the rule changes to help the offense since 73. That's some good work by Parsons and company. These guys are special and getting better each week. Very fun and exciting. I'm loving it.

Exactly, and, if we can tighten up on the run, this defence can be the true next Doomsday D

The jury is still out in my mind…while I think we are on the right track we are only in Week 5 and our run defense is sub-par to say the least. These next two games against better teams will give us an idea how good our defense is.

Is the Doomsday D back? I think the answer is yes. Here are a few reasons why I think so. Firstly, our defence has conceded 62 points, while our offense has scored 71 points. That's a point differential of +9 through 4 games. That's a very good point differential. Then there's this:

https://sports.yahoo.com/doomsday-i...ned-memories-of-the-glory-days-035001745.html

For the first time since 1973, the Cowboys have held our first 4 opponents to 19 points or less. To put that in perspective. When we last achieved this feat, we had Roger Staubach at QB, we had one Super Bowl victory, and Richard Nixon was the US President. That's mental! It's very good. Additionally, this is during an era where offense is placed at a premium.

Furthermore, it's not just the point differential, but it's the way we are doing it. The takeaways we've been getting have been brilliant. The players we have are playing brilliantly. All in all, we have a fun defence to watch with how they can shut down offenses. So, yes, I think that the Doomsday D is back, and hopefully here to stay for a long time.
NO better also be top 10 in stopping the run before you claim that however paying at high level , YES but the harder part of the schedule is upon us much more tests. We have solid d last year but they fell apart in bigger games. right now they are the school bully against weaker teams lets seem them matchup against the better teams first. lets see the entire season and hopefully post season..

these names are earned in the post season really.

I may be a lone wolf, but early season stats and impressions are skewed by the teams on the schedule. We’ve played 2 anemic offenses and a third with an anemic line. And in the first week the Bucs knew we weren’t scoring 10 against them if they gave us 4 games, do they weren’t exactly pressing to score points.
I understand we apply a lot of pressure, but the Eagles got 9 sacks against a team we managed 2. And we’re letting up 5.0 yards/carry to be right near the bottom of the league.
Don’t get me wrong - I am totally excited watching an aggressive D which is making plays. The D may become a great unit, but as Parcells used to say, let’s put away the anointing oil for now

The D is certainly showing positive signs but stacking them up against the Doomsday D is a tall order. We’ll be cautiously optimistic.
