My glass is half empty as long as Jerry's in control. He's instilled an atmosphere that's not conducive to winning in the NFL.

Lol! I didn't actually move it to the rant zone.

I would have, though. I was reading it through first because I thought we'd likely get some dust-ups from a transparent call-out thread that intentionally misrepresented the arguments of the posters you seem to disagree with, and by the time I got to the bottom of it, another mod had done what should have been done and moved it where it belonged.

I just thought this post reminded me so much of that one that I'd point it out.

Transparent call out thread???? Intentionally misrepresented arguments???? SMH!!!! I bow to your superior wisdom and knowledge on all things Cowboys related. You are a mod so you are ALWAYS right.

Well, guys. There's good news and bad news.

The good news is, with the state of the DL, we could potentially find a starter in every round of this draft.

The bad news is, with the state of the DL, we could potentially find a starter in every round of this draft.

what glass :)

With Garrett holding the glass and Jerry pouring the water, the glass is never going to fill up.

I'm a mod, that's true. I'm often right, that's also true. But the two are unrelated. I appreciate the bow, but it's unnecessary. I put my pants on the same way you do in the morning, cml. One leg at a time. The only difference is, I'm probably not wasting time complaining about how much I hate my pants and how stupid my legs are while I'm doing it.

You may be half-empty right now, Houston, but you keep your negativity in context, at least. I appreciate it when pessimism pretty much stays where it belongs and doesn't bleed into everything the club does. You also tend to tackle arguments rather than mischaracterizing them and then attaching the mischaracterizations.

To your point...and we'd obviously feel very differently about this if it were to happen...but if the Cowboys somehow started out well next season--say, 3-1 with a couple back to back wins in weeks three and four--I can totally see Jerry using the opportunity to announce a small extension for Jason Garrett. He's definitely already been given a reasonable amount of rope, but I do think Jerry really likes him as head coach and that they think they're building things. It would not shock me at all to see them extend him a bit at a point where the fan overreaction would be minimized.

Appreciate the words Idgit. I've never been here to just bash or go nuts. My main goal is to..as objectively as possible..talk Cowboy football. I kind of look at it as being an Independent in politics. There are things on both sides I like to incorporate and can see. I can see why people are upset at Romo. I also think he is a positive due to the QBs we had before and the fact that many guys would have been killed behind our line before. But I get that he makes boneheaded plays. I just don't find a reason to be really negative about him all the time. But I'm not surprised when he maybe melts down a bit.

As far as Garrett and being half empty. His first season and a half I liked the guy. I liked the change in culture with suits to games, etc. I liked that he was picking brains like Coach K, etc. But then seasons with similar mistakes started to happen and all we got were soundbytes of "process" etc. To me things started to sound more like excuses than progress. He started to remind me of a worse Gary Kubiak. Side note..I grew up in Ft. Worth..23 years.. and went to TCU. So was a Cowbyfan since the mid to late 70s. Moved to Houston for law school and was there 18 years before going to Chicago. Thus HoustonFrog. So I got a lot of Texans talk. Gary made a ton of horrible game time decisions. He blew seasons but people said he was nice, the locker room loved him and that he was progressing. Lightning rod. Owner kept giving extensions. Fans gnashed teeth. He kept bringing in bad coordinators so they finally made him take Wade. Then they had 2 good seasons. Problem was Gary never got to be a good coach and the same decisions blew playoff games. Once Wade wore off, it was same Gary and 8 years had passed. Therein lies my fear. I just watched this movie and it didn't end well despite 2 years where things came together it seemed. Jerry seems to be forcing this to say "told you so" while Garrett hopefully gets his legs and has a good season. I just don't think it leads us anywhere. I'm of the theory that 2 strong coaches led us to talent and getting somewhere. The rest has been flotsam. So why not go back there? JMO.

I get your point but it is just the same as loving every pair of pants you have no matter how worn out or torn they are and believing your legs are perfect no matter how bad of shape they are in and untanned they are.

Do these rose-colored Cowboys sweats make my butt look fat? Perhaps the 'Homer' lettering on the backside was a mistake, in retrospect. :)

I'm all about the positive. We can only get better from here. Can't get worse than 32nd.

Oh yes it can.

You would still be 32nd but give up more yards/points than we did last year with fewer turnovers generated.

Actually there is no such thing as empty, much less half empty, except in a vacuum. Half water, half air, therefore the glass is full.

The glass is definitely half full. Would we be a better DL with Ware? Of course. Would we be a better team with Ware? I don't think so. I hope Ware gets 12-15 sacks this year for Denver; it wasn't going to happen playing in the 4-3 for Dallas, and even if he did, he's just not worth 10 million a year on our team. To the SB runner-up? Yes.

We need to build with youth and increase the quality of our depth with money that guys like Ware and Austin were eating up. That's not a knock on Ware; it's just a fact.

Jerry remembers the build. He knows it is time.

This should summarize the state of the team.
