Is there another team in league that has more former Cowboys starting than us

Tackle-to-guard conversions are not uncommon. Certain teams (Patriots, I think?) do this quite often because they want athletic guards who can pull. I would be ok with an O-Line of nothing but college guards.

It's not uncommon and I think if you're going to do it, you either want to do it with a player coming right out of college or with a veteran that has shown that he can play his tackle position about as good as he's going to play it. We have had the tendency to put an O-Linemen at a position and if their progress isn't where want them to be, move him to another position hoping the light bulb goes on. But in reality, it's like throwing crap at the wall and hoping it sticks.

It's one of the reasons why I think Callahan is a superior O-Line coach. He doesn't seem to be willing to move guys around. Learn a position and learn it to the best of your ability, then we'll start considering to switch you around.

I don't know if it's true or not. But, it goes back to a point I've mentioned time and time again...our problem has *not* been finding talent. Our problem has been being able to mesh skill sets and get the players doing what they are best at instead of getting them doing things that they are not good at.

We had a major problem at this with different positions like the safety position where we would really have 2 strong safety types and usually the FS sucked. So it wasn't that the SS wasn't good, but now he is sharing too much of the coverage responsibilities. And it's not that the corners can't play, but they are not getting any help from the safety.

I think part of the issue looking back on it now is that we neglected to value key positions on team because we thought it was 1995 when those positions were not as valuable. Not only does safety come to mind, but center as well. Gurode was big and talented, but he was good for at least 3 awful, mind boggling games a year. And he couldn't do the line calls so we relied on Kyle Kosier to do that. But, Kosier would get injured and then that left us with a center prone to 3-4 awful games a year and not going to be much help to the backup LG. Now we have Frederick and it has completely changed the offense and the center position should be considered more valuable these days with the amount of A-gap blitzing and joker blitzing done by teams.

We finally got some semblance of a good mesh of skill sets at safety. Church being a tackler type that can handle short and intermediate coverage, Wilcox can handle the deep coverage and is a capable tackler himself.

We no longer have Witten running checkdown routes. That belongs more to Murray or Beasley while Witten can do what he does best...block and run routes past the first down marker.

It's been a long time for this to happen and I wouldn't say that I'm confident we are out of the woods, yet. But, we seem to be headed in the right direction.

Cannot disagree. Team building is just that. You have to build it, some players, while talented, may not fit due to their skill set. Take Chandler who was mentioned here. Good tall receiving TE. Another Escobar if you will. Just could not fit and got squeezed out due to a number crunch. Then on the other hand, we have kept very poor players who are now either out of the league or hanging on by their fingernails due to poor evaluation or allowing draft status or emotional capital to allow them to hang around well past their utility.

Hey, look at all those TEs.....

Look at those OL in comparison. No wonder we had to spend multiple first round choices. It is clear that we evaluate certain positions better than others.

I am 100% certain the Cowboys have the most Cowboys playing for them right now.

I don't think that's what this is about. It's about no other teams having more former Cowboys playing for other teams than Dallas does. And I think that's a perfectly fair and accurate statement.

I know it's at your expense, but I actually like people who correct others with respect to grammar. We're getting too lazy around here - and in society in general - in communicating properly and effectively. And sometimes we need someone to point such things out to us because I can GUARANTEE you that if you are engaged in a job that calls for the use of language, such mistakes stand out and could eliminate you from the job pool.

Properly constructing sentences and understanding how to skillfully use language and words reflect on people's logic skills.

We understood your point, which is the most important issue. But the fact that so many people "liked" his post and, basically, agreed with him says that people understood there was something wrong with how you phrased the issue.

Just saying.

Luckily, I'm a golf pro.
