I know a lot of people who have stopped watching. As for myself, it's difficult since I played the game for years and have enjoyed playing and watching. So it pains me to see or think that something so loved could ever be corrupted.
The owners hired Roger G. to make money and the NFL is an entertainment business. To think the human factor/TV ratings and gambling hasn't effected the integrity of the league is well...The real hope and dream.
I keep watching because I want to believe everyone is on the up and up and we'll see a fair contest of skill, like games I played in and watched in the earlier years. I have to admit, it is getting harder.
So that is why I keep watching the games Beast, still hoping and praying it can get back to that thing I enjoyed so much in my youth.
I keep watching too. like a bad habit, I guess.
And the owners did instruct Goodell to make sure the TV model makes money for them, and entertain at the same time. "Brought to you by Peacock Network!!"
I'd really like to know the average commercial advertisement minutes/ads that are run in game broadcasts now as compared to several years ago. My guess is that advertising during games has increased. I dont recall in past seasons how frequently games cut away to commercials the moment an injury caused a game stoppage. "We'll be right back after this message.", announcers sheepishly tell viewers when a player's down, training staff runs out. Replays? the same. (More commercials = $$ for the owners) .
Don't blame the sponsors and GM trucks, Verizon, Taco Bell, Coors et al. The owners are complicit. A few years ago, NFL approved continuous clock runs with runners out of bounds, after sacks, (to squeeze in more advertising minutes?) so as "to shorten length of games." Yeah. Sure.
I know, this isn't topical. OK.
