Is this it for Zach Martin?

Oh common. His contract is a bargain at this point. He's a first ballot HOFer and it is not his fault the rest of the team could never play to his level.

It's quite the bargain, dealing with 26.4mil of dead cap over the next two years thanks to restructuring and the extension.

It sucks he's going out like this, at the bottom, but so it goes. At least he got paid twice handsomely.

Martin is battling but he's having ankle issues on both feet and lower back problems and I strongly believe this will be Martins final year in the league...Hall of Fame candidate and ring of honor recipient are in his future....One of the best draft picks especially considering that Jerry was the only person in the building that wanted Johnny Manziel at the time..

The restructure benefitted the team more than Zach. We needed cap space and that was a choice Sj and Jerry made.........knowing full well Zach was near the end. Even in his worst year, this year, he's still an above average NFL G.... not even close to "the bottom".

Last night was an injury disaster for the OL at the end with both Martin and Tyler Smith going down with ankle injuries. Many in the media are saying that could be Zach Martins last game before retirement. Sad way to go out for an absolute warrior. Another HOF career wasted by Jerry.

The rest of the season looks like an easy slide to the top of the draft.
Jerry should have never extended and let Zach walk last year or let him go. but Jerry holds on to players until the end of contracts to minimize dead money. yes, this is it for Zach.

Zach was first team AP all-pro last year. He earned his raise. The stupidity occurred this past off season when Jerry decided to create cap room by restructuring the deal.... knowing full well Zach might not play beyond 2024.

There are plenty of examples on this team of guys not living up to their contracts. Zach isn't one of them.

IMHO, you let a player go a year too early, than a year too late. last year should have been his last. we did the same with Smith. Biadasz, williams, kearse, LVE, Gillmore, Armstrong, etc.... and continuing that trend with bunch of players on the current team like Lawrence, Wilson, etc. Jerry keeps players to the end of their contract regardless of their abilities, production, etc....he hates to cut a player in the middle of a contract, having paid bonuses in advance, now having to replace them and pay bonuses again...to him that's double paying for the same position and is not cost effective.

if you want to win then you make moves, you let players walk, you constantly churn, you don't build a team through UDFA and continuosly add talent. Jerry doesn't do that. draft, because its cheap. 4th and 5th wave of FA. because its cheap. and sign the players who sell Jersey's to large contracts to justify the investment

He's done. He knows it too. We all know it.
His PFF rating and stats are really good.

not sure where all the hate comes from.

Likely because he is leaving us soon and we still have a ton of dead cap $$$ from his contract.

He’s done. If Sportrac is to be believed, his deal auto voids after this season.

He will need to be a post 6/1 designation. No cap savings and 11m in dead money for 2025, and 16m for 2026. Ouch. Yet, Jerry claims that coaching dead money is the problem. Interesting.

This is where Jerry’s inability to make tough decisions with certain players really hurts.

Maybe they don’t care as it’s an excuse to not bother with free agency.
PFF says otherwise. Not done.

it is not a bargain. he's the 6th highest paid guard this year (in which prior to his holdout he should have been considerably lower) and is playing the worst football of his career. that is not a bargain in any capacity

Thats Jerry's fault. He wanted money for Dak and decided to restructure Zachs deal.

Absolutely absurd statement. His hold out and subsequent extension is as good an example of what is wrong with this franchise as anything.

Whats absurd is anyone complaining about Zach getting paid.
When it comes to winning football games that hold out and subsequent extension was not good for the Dallas Cowboys. Things like that happen on this team because Jerry is emotional and will always cave. Zach got paid. Great. Good for him. It is just another B grade security tossed into our so called AA bond. Eventually you no longer have a AA bond. You have the 2024 Dallas Cowboys.

You mean not done, as in he can still play?

I meant more along the lines of he’s going to be ready to quit by choice. His deal auto voids and there won’t be big money out there to entice him to hang around.

A buddy who was an OL coach for some small colleges said last night that when you watch Martin line up and get into his sets, he looks like a guy fighting a stiff back.

At this point, him being out might not be a bad thing. The season is done. Play some of the young guys and build depth. Let Martin heal and if his back gets better, great. If not, maybe he just retires at year end and sails off into the sunset.

Unless he wanted to stay or nobody wanted him, not moving him to a contender to give him a shot in possibly his final year is a shame.

How many careers have the Jones' family wasted. Too many to count at this point.
it really is hard to consider a million-dollar career playing in the NFL a wasted career.

huh? Hate? Have you seen him this year? Did you see him last night? He whiffs now and that's not like him. I admire what hes done here. It's not hate if its true. Now maybe others have an agenda about him but I don't. Try not to assume. Not all posters /fans are created equally. I been a Dallas fan for 51 years. PFF can roll up their scores tight and shove them where the sun don't shine. Many times they are wrong. Every now and again they get it right. We all watched the game last night and it was a repeat of the last 5. My eye test says he looks done. I am not happy about it either.

he plays really stiff, like he has a bad lower back. Something isnt right with him. PFF must be skewed on this because I know what we saw last night and the previous 5 games. That was a guy who couldn't move.
