Is this owner really about to reward a QB for failure after his playoff performance?

Every playoffs, I find myself saying, "well there is another quarterback who has surpassed Dak." Same quarterback, who is now old and passed the point of learning to improve his game, with a weaker supporting case, and it logical to think he is going to do better than he has in the past?
What is even the rationale for signing Dak at this point? You’ve come this far, just let it ride. If he wins a SB and you have to pay through the nose that’s a great problem to have. If he chokes again you aren’t locked in to him and you can start over.

So is this thread about Lamar, Herbert, Murray, Trevor, or Tua, just to name a few? I’m just wondering because those are all QBs who got a big bag after looking pretty useless in playoffs.

You’re right our defense shut out green bay in the first half. Its all Daks fault.
14 points on Dak what happened to going toe to toe win in a shoot out. No it took GBs second string to motivate Dak to put up some stats. Dak is the most responsible for the embarrassment of that playoff game, I guess not running a QB draw trying to be a hero and handing the ball to the center to spot might rank up there, another Dak masterpiece

I’m convinced that this franchise is so handicapped that the only way they overcome it is with a franchise, blue chip, HOF type QB. 99% of the time you’re going to need a high draft pick to get that. If a few years of losing and amassing some top 5 picks is what it takes then sign me up. 12 wins, 1st or 2nd round exits, and drafting in the late 20s clearly isn’t working.
That’s a fair point of view but with the OL and general talent on the team even lance would go 8-8 which doesn’t set you up for that.

Could be a while to get a top 10 then you might end up with a bust - it’s a high rate.

Just generally confused the amount of people that want to leap into that abyss, remembering the Hutchinson/henson/vinny years

We can always laugh watching Dak stare down his WRs, while LBs jump routes. At home in the play-offs of all places. It’s like watching Trey Lance last pre-season game.

Figures. Waited until a playoff game to throw a pick6.

Yes. Dak is good enough to win enough regular season games to get them into the playoffs and that is all the jonses care about.

The idea is to hoist a Lombardi, not go one-and-done in the playoffs. Don’t fear change or the unknown
This.

Who cares if they miss the playoffs for a few years? It's not as if they've sniffed a SB once they got to the postseason anyways.

The team is only going to win a SB if one of the two scenarios occur:

1. Dak suddenly becomes Brady/Mahomes and leads the Cowboys to a SB win.

2. The scouts go out and start scouting every QB possible. They draft a stud QB. Now, chances are they will Ned to move up to get the guy because there's too many bad teams in the league. Cowboys don't stink enough to finish with the first pick imo.

The first choice just seems impossible. The second is very difficult...but it can be done.

If he gets an extension then why even root for this team if its confirmed that Dak will never ever be under any pressure to perform when it matters the most. How the hell do you extend a QB who played part in one of the worst losses in Team history? So if he gets rewarded and extended after that game, he can play below average without any pressure for next 4 years. And we as fans is supposed to sit here and root for this guy who cant elevate his level of play at all after December? He will be paid and not have to worry about anything because he cant be cut so he can just smile after interceptions.
Dak hater perspective has you seeing things crazy. Dak is a solid QB who deserves whatever the market says he should get paid.

Sometimes I wonder if fans have CTE.

Yes, based on 2 factors:

- We have nobody better and have not had the foresight from moving on
- Knowing he was going to do this he did NOTHING to give us a shot to go all the way this year, instead ignoring positions of importance

If he planned to sign Dak and go all in, he could have gone harder at RB 1, and upgraded where needed on D without having to poll the scrap heaps. So if Dak gets signed: a team with no RB1 for who knows how long, a WR 1 who is a step away from a hammy, rookies all over the OL, no proven CB 2, no WR 2. This is the perfect formula to move forward signing our 31 year old QB to a new 4-5 year massive contract which will finalize our inability to fix the above

Dak didnt play well in playoff game but the defense puts us in a huge hole. Dak doesnt play defense and he led nfl in TD passes w only 5 picks.
Yeah the Defenses threw the Pick 6’d and were responsible for the 3 and outs. Also the run went Dak ran backwards taking us out of Fg range !

Damn Micah and the D .

It was also the D that blew the inner games and it was the D who ran the clock out and didn’t get that last play off when time expired.

And yes it was also the D’s fault when Dak
Put his deer goggles on and crapped his panties !

Damn our D !!

Problem is, we never bring in decent competition for our stars. Come on. Cooper Rush? Top to bottom this team reads too much from their press clippings.

Delete your account, get on this anti-Dak/anti-Cowboys canoe and start paddling out of Big D. I hear the Texans are looking for bandwagon fans.

You don’t believe that. No one else does either. The Cooper Rush nonsense is even more stupid than the Lance nonsense. If the Dallas Cowboys had a quarterback even one tenth as good as Prescott he would have been released by now. He’s still here and Jerry wants to pay him a fortune to remain with the team.
. I’m pretty sure you thought the season was over when Dak went down against Tampa and started blaming Jerry Jones for not surrounding Dak with quality.. and yet, there we were, winning 4 games in a row…

It's what we do, reward players for doing absolutely nothing when it matters...30yrs and counting
