Last night ESPN had an hour long show previewing all aspects of the 2009 NFL season.

Trey Wingo (sp?) hosted it with J. Clayton, Mort, M. Smith and some other guy that I have seen but can't recall his name.

My question is this: ... what does it say about our 2009 Cowboys that none of our players or our team were ever mentioned until the last five minutes when they were giving predictions. And that was just to predict we would win a playoff game.

Jerry was not mentioned until about 50 minutes were gone into the show.

How can you talk NFL for an hour and not mention Witten, Ware, Barber, Romo or ... the Cowboys as a team?

Are we that insignificant in the grand scheme of this season, or is it just a slap in the face from BSPN?

People are just overlooking the Cowboys. NFL Network as well as ESPN. I don't think it is personal but I do think many are taking the Cowboys lightly

the show was more about hot topics such as Vick, Brady's comeback, Favre... actually the first half hour was spent on Vick and Favre...

it wasn't an in depth analysis of the entire league..

Apparently you just don't understand. The media is disrespecting us again!

Personally I love it. I don't have any issue with it at all. Let them over look us. It's always been clear that the only time ESPN really wants to discuss the Cowboys is if there is drama to discuss. When that isn't there they don't care to bring us up. Which is just fine by me.

If there was a big controversary they would have given them more air time. So be glad that all is well.

Would you rather they spent half the show discussing the relationship between Parcells and TO?

I just found it odd.

Not one player, nor the team as a whole were mentioned.

So either we are a non-factor, or it was deliberate.

Especially when they discussed QB's. First they talked about who was the best, and they talked about P. Manning & T. Brady.

They they said, leaving those two out, who was the better QB's.

They mentioned P. Rivers, D. Brees, Rothleisberger, Favre, E. Manning, McNabb.
Then they mentioned the up and coming youngsters, ... Flaco, Schaub.

Did not mention Romo even once.

Like I said, no Cowboy players were mentioned, nor was the team mentioned.

ESPN will talk about Dallas when we are winning as they did in the 90's. Controsvery or winning is what will bring the attention to the Cowboys lets just hope it is winning

Actually, at the beginning of the show they talked about the video screen. And John Clayton talked about how he's concerned about the average age of our o-line and the lack of depth behind them.

Until Dallas proves otherwise they don't see us as much of a factor. Most pick us 3rd in the NFC East. If Dallas wants respect they will have to go out and earn it. Personally I would not want it any other way. In the words of Bonnie Rait Lets give them something to talk about

I like it that we are not in the spotlight.Hopefully some teams we are playing take us for granted too. No big deal.

BTW, Trey Wingo is a Cowboys fan who has been invited to join this forum. I'm quite certain it was not personal.

Not on the show that I watched.

Wasted an hour of my time. :laugh2:

That's the only thing that I questioned about the show. How can you talk about all of those qbs and not include #9?! But overall, I'm glad Da 'Boys are flying under the radar b/c we've seen how they've performed with high expectations thrust upon them...

It's nice to see the team not have so much controversy and hooplah revolving around them and this is a team that doesn't need their heads inflated, except for guys like Witten, Ware, Barber, Newman and Colombo who just don't get affected by the hype.

Where ESPN becomes BSPN is when they are to sports and sports reporting as MTV is to music. When they are dying to report anything about the Cowboys and it's almost always slanted towards negative and controversy while skipping facts, having very faulty logic and being sloppy in verifying sources. And probably worse is that they act like they are the authority in sports media, almost like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

My buddy and I were talking about this the other day and talked about Joe Buck. Basically I'm far from a Joe Buck fan, but at least he readily admits that he likes talking about Dallas because good or bad, people listen. And that's what you usually get with Buck when it comes to Dallas, he'll rave about them when they are doing well, criticize them when they are doing bad. Does he go over the top? Sure. But at least he let's it be known where he stands and why.

Stuff like ESPN not mentioning Dallas until over 50 minutes in the show doesn't matter in the least bit. But stuff like them reporting one anonymous source has said that there's a riff between players and that source can hardly be verified or verified as reliable or accurate is stuff that can effect a team. Hopefully, we can avoid that garbage this year and beyond.

They do it so everyone watches the whole show rather than turning it off after they talk about the Cowboys. I mean really? Who wants to know anything about the other garbage in the NFL? :laugh2:
