Is this revealing or just BSPN?

Apparently you just don't understand. The media is disrespecting us again!

:muttley:

If only the players would actually feel disrespected by the media and use that as motivation late in the season.

Nothing matters except what is going on in the lockerroom and on the field.

BTW, how many former Cowboys has ESPN hired?

Ditka, Emmitt, Michael, Woodson, Wiley, Keyshawn, to name a few.

Dallas is a love or hate it kinda team. Of course they are going to spin the negative. So many people hate this team, they will sit around and listen to any negative press. Those who love the team will sit there and yell at their TV.

At least we aren't treated to opening, headliner stories about the TV in the stadium.

I like it that we are not in the spotlight.Hopefully some teams we are playing take us for granted too. No big deal.
This is truly not a big deal and (IMO) a blessing...

So.... when ESPN talks about us, they are hatin'.

When they aren't, they are hatin'.

I have a feeling anything less than "This Cowboys team is the best team I have ever seen assembled. Ever. 19-0 is my prediction" is going to be construed as hate.

Fortunately, there is a simple solution. If ESPN pisses you off that much, turn it off.

Of course, that'll never happen. Because while many claim to hate ESPN; the simple fact is.... they can't get enough of it.

Last night ESPN had an hour long show previewing all aspects of the 2009 NFL season.

Trey Wingo (sp?) hosted it with J. Clayton, Mort, M. Smith and some other guy that I have seen but can't recall his name.

My question is this: ... what does it say about our 2009 Cowboys that none of our players or our team were ever mentioned until the last five minutes when they were giving predictions. And that was just to predict we would win a playoff game.

Jerry was not mentioned until about 50 minutes were gone into the show.

How can you talk NFL for an hour and not mention Witten, Ware, Barber, Romo or ... the Cowboys as a team?

Are we that insignificant in the grand scheme of this season, or is it just a slap in the face from BSPN?

Just flying under the radar is all. Love it!

People are just overlooking the Cowboys. NFL Network as well as ESPN. I don't think it is personal but I do think many are taking the Cowboys lightly

Fantastic! I'd much rather be overlooked then predicted to go to the Super Bowl like last year.

Yes, really. He's actually quite comical in his defense of the Cowboys. BTW, he does NOT agree with the fan perception that ESPN hates the Cowboys. In fact he pointed out how ready, willing, and able the network is to hire former Cowboys for their various football shows. He did say he hates the constant replays of "the Catch" but they promote it like pimps because Berman was right there and they got "Historic footage." He says that is why Berman is such a 49ers shill.

Nice guy truth be told.

Who gives a crap about Chris Berman? Does he move the meter? Does he appeal to the lucrative 25-49 demographic? Or is this ESPN trumpeting the fact that they had a guy there (not sure about the timeline)?

Football results have nothing to do with attention mongers on the television and all the attention, predicted success/failure have no bearing on the game.

I'd rather my team not be the Paris Hilton of the game; always talked about, always in the news, etc. Just doing it's job and doing it right.

It is not the Dallas Cowboys sports network.

That's a great idea! We should pitch it to Jerry. I'm between jobs right now so I can help. :)

Honestly does any Cowboy beyond Ware need to be mentioned? In the grand scheme of things....is doesn't matter..

I agree. I think this team was thinking SB instead of what they needed to do to improve each and every week. Face it people predicted big things and our guys ate the cheese.

Excellent post, Yakuza. I agree with most of it. Although there are a couple things...

Yakuza Rich;2929976 said:
Ron Jaworski (former Eagles player) and Joe Theismann (former Commanders player).

Jaws and Theesman have actually been unbiased with us most of the time. Jaworski is a top notch play analyzer and he seems to not have much Iggles bias. I've seen other ESPN personalities (notice I didn't say reporters, anchors, or analysts) try to make him sway for the Eagles and he doesn't bite, especially last year's MNF game when Kornheiser was trying to get Jaws to gush over McNabb.

Theisman has been positive and complementary of the Cowboys when it has been deserved, and I actually enjoyed his commentary his last year.

Yakuza Rich;2929976 said:
...they got rid of Irvin and Emmitt (as shown by Emmitt, he's not going to blindly root for Dallas and neither did Irvin until Owens became a member of the team).

I don't think it was Owens that brought Michael back into our corner. I think it was the departure of Parcells. Michael did not like Bill Parcells. A lot of former players were upset because Parcells didn't allow them to attend Valley Ranch or practices, but all these former Giants players were roaming our territory.

Back to the personalities thing. Notice wikipedia (and it's not the only place that does) lists them all as "personalities" whether they're anchors, reporters, analysts, anything. I think that is more evidence of the fact that ESPN is more of an entertainment venue than a solid news reporting organization.
