People sometimes forget that it is ESPN or in many cases BSPN.

It is not the Dallas Cowboys sports network.

Normally if it starts becoming the Dallas Cowboys Sports Network, that normally is because of something bad or them trying to turn it into something bad.

So...I would rather them not turn it into the Dallas Cowboys Sports Network because that would mean something is going bad.

People complain when they are "picking" on the Cowboys but they also complain now if they are not talking about the cowboys.

Personally I would like it if they treated the cowboys like an O-Linemen...where they rarely mention them because if they do it probably means they are doing something bad.

Let's take this off season as mostly a good thing were we have less drama and more focus on the team just putting their noses to the grind stone and staying out of the media.

So far I think the worst thing they have tried to manufacture into a controversy is the Video Screen and the Scandrick/Jenkins competition....if that is the worst they can talk about ad nauseum than I say this organization is doing a good job of focusing on football and staying out of trouble.

Well, i like that for once someone is saying the Cowboys will win a playoff game. That alone is far more than most are saying....which is fine.
There are 32 teams and for once this season, the Cowboys don't have a lot to talk about in particular. It's fine.

They choked against the Stealers, Ravens, Eagles (44-6), Cardinals, and the freakin Rams! And they haven't won a playoff game.

Dallas doesn't deserve to be talked about right now.

Because there is nothing out there for them to start drama or contraversy over. And they don't want to get caught making crap up.

I dont really care about media bias. I believe it exists but I don't care. What I don't understand is why Drew Brees is always mentioned as a great QB yet Romo is thrown under the bus. Why? Can anyone explain to me how they are that different in what they have accomplished thus far in their careers? Every talking head quickly throws out Brees but mentions Romo only as an after thought or an underachiever or a gunslinger, etc. What is the difference? If no one has an answer here, i guess I'll just attribute that to anti-Cowboy bias as well and forget about it.

Last night ESPN had an hour long show previewing all aspects of the 2009 NFL season.

Trey Wingo (sp?) hosted it with J. Clayton, Mort, M. Smith and some other guy that I have seen but can't recall his name.

My question is this: ... what does it say about our 2009 Cowboys that none of our players or our team were ever mentioned until the last five minutes when they were giving predictions. And that was just to predict we would win a playoff game.

Jerry was not mentioned until about 50 minutes were gone into the show.

How can you talk NFL for an hour and not mention Witten, Ware, Barber, Romo or ... the Cowboys as a team?

Are we that insignificant in the grand scheme of this season, or is it just a slap in the face from BSPN?

It's funny how some people want the Cowbys in the spotlight and talked about and then when it happens get mad that Dallas is in the spotlight and talked about (not saying this is you though). I watched that show and I was EXTREMELY happy they didn't say anything about the Cowboys until the end. I like this flying undere the radar thing.

I have seen him defending or hyping the cowboys on occasion.

When they can't get their fact straight they might as well not talk about us at all.
I saw a preview on ESPN.com the said Ware was unhappy with his contract and we drafted McGee with our first pick in the draft.

It would take them 2 min to fact check the crap before they say anything but as usual they didn't bother

The Cowboys have NOT been in the playoffs the last 11 years, I do not blame them.

Cowboys need to do it on the field.

Yes, really. He's actually quite comical in his defense of the Cowboys. BTW, he does NOT agree with the fan perception that ESPN hates the Cowboys. In fact he pointed out how ready, willing, and able the network is to hire former Cowboys for their various football shows. He did say he hates the constant replays of "the Catch" but they promote it like pimps because Berman was right there and they got "Historic footage." He says that is why Berman is such a 49ers shill.

Nice guy truth be told.

Just for the record, let's remember what ESPN basically is, the:

Entertainment
Sports
Programming
Network

It is not a sports news channel. Heck, it's spinoff, ESPNews, barely fits that description. It's primary objective isn't bent on relaying facts to its viewers. It's entertaining its audience.

News isn't entertainment. It's factual material without any unnecessary filler and that has always been my main beef with them. ESPN has always presented itself as a sports news source, but it really isn't--at least, not since its first four or five years in its existence.

It's really boils down to one's personal preference, which is wanting to be entertained about sports related events/commentary or seeking just news about various types of sports found around the world.

If one is seeking the former, ESPN is a totally legit network for that particular person's interest. If one wants the latter, ESPN is not legit at all, but it's sister network ESPNews isn't a bad substitute. The problem with ESPNews is the same which afflicts virtually all present day, 24-hour news channels:

Far too much attention on broadcasting preceived headlining sports news events (which is repeated ad nauseam on an hourly rotation); and far too little time devoted on reporting the daily transactions of the numerous sports genres.

Unfortunately, that's not going to change very soon, if ever. There's just too much :money: tied into appeasing a significant portion of the public's thirst for nonsense Sunday through Saturday, 52 weeks a year.

Yes, Wingo is a really nice guy and if you closely watch his work he usually doesn't get on the Cowboys too much and asks questions that are going to be asked.

But, ESPN hates the Cowboys...just Wingo and I may have a different sense of that.

Perhaps the producers, editors and execs don't purposedly hate the Cowboys, but if there's a story on the Cowboys that is negative, they are willing to run with it almost no matter what. That would be somewhat understandable (still not right if the facts are incorrect and it's innuendo and rumor) if they did this with other teams, but apparently when it's the Steelers (Roethlisberger's sexual assault civil suit) and Brett Favre (Favre and Matt Millen in collusion) there's a different standard there. Remember, Mr. Blue Suit's story on Owens vs. Romo/Witten included one 'anonymous source who regularly speaks to Owens' teammates' whereas they refused to report Roethlisberger's sexual assault case despite the accuser filing a civil suit, which is public record.

Then ESPN is filled with writers and 'analysts' who have made it clear that they don't like Dallas. Lenny Pasquarelli has stated on Atlanta radio point blank that he hates the Cowboys. John Clayton has done the same on Seattle radio. Then there's guys that have made it clear they hate Dallas like Eric Allen (former Eagles player), Ron Jaworski (former Eagles player) and Joe Theismann (former Commanders player).

On the side of the Cowboys, we really only have Woody. They could make claim for Ditka, but everybody knows he's a Bears man through and through. Keyshawn played for us for two seasons and had the most obvious vendetta ever against Terrell Owens and they got rid of Irvin and Emmitt (as shown by Emmitt, he's not going to blindly root for Dallas and neither did Irvin until Owens became a member of the team).

And have you ever seen Mr. Blue Suit come away with an all positive report on the Cowboys? Or how about Mosely? Remember, Mosely was the same guy who was a 'you know what' stirrer in Dallas and whose professionalism included once telling Matt McBriar that he was going to be cut because he could read Parcells' lips during a game after McBriar shanked a punt. I'm not expecting all glowing reports from Dallas, but it's amazing how these guys never have one single glowing report...even when Dallas was in the midst of a 10-game winning streak in 2007.

Whatever Wingo may see it as, and I don't know how anybody could expect him to not have a biased position given they are his employer, it's blatantly obvious that the higher ups at ESPN see negative Cowboys news as a ratings grab and something that will get people to click on their Web site. Unfortunately, professionalism, journalistic ethics, and accuracy often take a backseat to ESPN's thirst for these ratings and web site clicks.
