Is This The Worst Defense in The NFL?

The Eagles offense had something to do with the Cowboys defensive struggles along with the injuries.

the Eagles offensive line combined with their receivers are probably two of the best groups in the NFL.

I believe there are going to be some changes down the road when it comes to coaching philosophies and how to deal with the length of this regular season.

It wouldn't be surprised to see two different starters at some positions. That is, there would be an "early season" starter and a "late season" starter. Younger, inexperienced players might start the first 4 to 8 games in place of a 30 year old veteran so that he can be much fresher for the end of the season.

The starters on defense include three rookies, three 2nd year players and two 3rd year players. These guys were fun early in season but they have to be hurting.

Perhaps in the future we will see healthy starters inactive for a game or two.

It's crazy to say after how the were performing earlier in the year but it may be true. At the very least it's got to be one of the biggest collapses in a unit over the course of a season. I don't want to hear about injuries either. If LVE and Anthony Brown being out derails the entire D then you've got major problems.

Pretty funny that some posters earlier in the year were literally comparing this D to the 85 Bears.

Bravo!
Good post but I disagree slightly, ruffian.

Worst defense?
Nooooooooooooo. It's a 3-week slump, good lad. But there are problems with scheme. Quinn is being humiliated.

You write:
If LVE and Anthony Brown being out derails the entire D then you've got major problems.

And let us forgive those louts who compared our D to the 85 Bears. Not even close to our 2015 Defence.

It's not the worst. Injuries and sickness are messing up the sauce at present. And while some Cowboy fans will be reluctant to admit it, the Eagles are a damn good football team. They have been often touted as the league's best team. Today should make that REALLY clear. It will NOT be easy to take them out in the divisional round...should it come to that.

Finally, this was the third consecutive game that the defense came up with the late stops needed to win. The last ten minutes of the Eagles game saw the defense accept the challenge and emerge on top with two forced fumbles and a turnover on downs. That's gonna mean something in the playoffs...hopefully.

Forget the '85 Bears. Dallas needs more from its DTs and LB corp. Some would say A LOT more.

As others have said...
IF you depend only on creating turnovers and cant pressure/sack the QB like before, then this team will not advance in the playoffs.

This is currently how the defense is playing and while maybe not the worst, it is a bottom tier performing unit right now.

This D goes as Micah Parsons goes, simple as that. He's clearly not the same player we saw the first half of the season. Banged up or wore down, I don't really know but they will need him at his best come playoff time or it's one and done.

If they aren't one of the worst now - they are doing a great imitation of it, lol. If not for the turnovers, who knows how many points they give up yesterday- they couldn't stop them on downs all day. Its funny when the announcers still talk about this defense as one of the best, they are talking about the defense before Dak came back. Its like there are different guys wearing those jerseys now- look nothing like the group that wouldn't allow more than 14-15-16 points a game. It is crazy, you are right- never seen anything like it before. Now the offense is going good, defense sucks. Before it was the opposite. Only game that both were kicking *** at the same time was the Vikings game. Guess we will have to just remember that one game.

Well it’s far from the best. I think Quinn has been exposed. Parsons looks cooked. The rest of the pass rush is non existent. Injuries in the secondary. It’s not good right now.

Secondary hurting but still the pash rush has disappeared and they not hurt

Dallas gave up 27 and also forced 4 turnovers. Not a good performance but certainly not "worst in the NFL". I know this site does a lot of hyperbole and hot takes but this one is pretty extreme even for CowboysZone.

This D was never on that level with da Bears, Doomsday, Purple People Eaters or Steele Curtain. People here were wanting them to be but now we have seen the roosters have come home to roost.

You lack context. We do need to get some guys back, but on top of that, we played 2 really tough offenses in Jacksonville and Philly.
