Don't know how true it is - but I actually read where Gonzalez is struggling in his new offense.

He seemed fine to me in last nights game vs STL, granted they aren't know for their stellar defense. A quick look at his stats he was 3 for 32 yards and a touchdown...but like we say its just pre season

Irvin was find of saying that he wasn't the fastest, but he always knew where he was going and the defender didn't.

Witten shields the defender so well using his body. The guy is phenominal.

Not right now, but when it is all said in done, he very well could be in the discussion.

"Slow" is a relative term here. Witten slow compared to Deion? Yeah, but not slow compared to most tight ends.

The thing that has always amazed me about Witten is how he ALWAYS seems to get open deep down the middle with less than a minute to go in the first half or fourth quarter. How many times have we seen him do that to set up a late score? It's to the point now that, if we have the ball with at least 30 seconds on the clock, I expect to see him haul in a 30 to 40 yard pass. Absolutely clutch in every sense of the word.

but does ANYONE care to answer me on how defenses are going to be able to stop Witten from controlling the middle of the field?

I mean I watch these Witten and it's like everytime he catches the ball hes just completely wide open like nobody can even keep up with him

I mean Witten IS A BEAST

just throw the ball his way an he will find a way to catch it

I can't understand how he get so wide open on big downs - it amazes me

well Troy had Novacek

Romo has Witten
He's an exceptional route runner. That inside route he ran the other day was as crisp as you can run a route.

Witten isn't slow .. he's just not super fast. However, what Witten does very well that few other tight-ends do well is that he sells his fakes until the last moment and cuts cleanly and quickly when he makes his cuts. Most other tight-ends curve on their cuts or at the very least pause briefly before cutting.

The best players are not always the most athletic or the fastest .. the best players tend to be smart and consistent.

Forgot all about him. But I really didn't see him play that much. So it would be hard to rank him. I only saw Mackey through film clips. It seems that there's more film of Mackey than Newsome.

Shut up. hehe

I love his game, but he may not even be the best TE this year, let alone in history.

I think Derek Jeter and Jason Witten have similar situations.

Derek is no MONSTER, not an AROD #'s guy... but he on all day every day.
Jason is the same.

Witten could and probably should be captain on the Cowboys... (lol is he?)
