Is WR Michael Gallup still a lead feature type?

The future is Lamb and Cooper. Two exceptional talents. Gallup is the odd man out.
Keep thinking that... Gallup would mess around and go to another team and be a perennial all pro. Gallup is a damn good WR.

Let Andy gets some reps. IMO we have the overall best group of WRs, RBs in the league.
With the defense getting more formidable this could get interesting and Gallups stock will rise.

Coopers not a true see threat. That’s why he always get caught. He’s not slow, but we use him wrong. He has good but my great speed.

Let me start by saying I love Gallup. He can put up low tier #1 numbers if hes next to a #1 in todays NFL, but he cannot be your best receiver. He is going to make eye popping plays. He will come up clutch, but hes also a chest catcher which limits some of the routes hes able to run, and it limits how comfortable a QB will feel throwing to him in certain situations.
Gallup is fine on 1-to-1 situations.

But he greatly benefits from having Cooper and CeeDee opposite him to draw the double coverages.

I expect he will do better as Dalton does better.

Stop worrying about if he stays or goes.

We have so many holes to fill..no way he stays as we will not afford him anyway.

And I say good for him.

I was really hoping once we got better QB play and getting the balls more to the receivers, that Gallup
would step up and make his presence felt.

-We've seen Cooper come up with some key catches and staying involved in the offense.
-We've seen rookie CeeDee Lamb emerge mightily to greatly impact the game
-But is Michael Gallup in somewhat of a slump -that includes issues with drops ?

McCarthy made comments that he thought Gallup had No.1 lead WR traits, but while he can have his
moments, i tend to wonder if the inconsistencies in his game such as the untimely drops and disappearing acts may still limit him from being a No1.1 type.

Lamb has the advantage of playing slot WR against Nickel CBs.

Gallup is averaging 16 yards per reception.

I dont think hes staying, but we at least have one more year with him.

I assume you are seeing what he's doing to Darby today? Coop has legit 4.4 speed.. more importantly he has legit 4.4 football speed .. not some underwear olympics speed. If the WFT aren't going to double him I would take a deep shot against Darby every series. Even if Darby stays with him Coop has 3 inches and 20 pounds on him... Good ball placement and you got money..

This. Its a different ballgame when you are going against a starting corner on the outside and not the third corner in the slot with more field to work with.

Good thing is he will never have to be our best WR here. Cooper and Lamb will be that. I think he is good as a 3rd WR. He would exposed if some team wanted him as their top WR ala Laurent Robinson. I see Gallup as a tad better version of Terrence Williams. Both body catch way too often and drop balls.

he’s much, much better than Laurent Robinson and wasn’t signed as a number one. Just overpaid for any role

Gallup has been very bad this year.

his catch on 3rd and ten and just stepping out before the first down marker was inexcusable especially since it was right in front of him!

No he’s not. And frankly, he’s nothing special they should’ve traded him for that 3rd rounder while they had the chance. He’s a great guy, but those drops are just killers. He isn’t hard to replace.

Agree. And not because Gallup's not good. He's just clearly not in Cooper and Lamb's league, talent-wise.
He's a very high-level #2WR on a good team. Problem is, he's not on Cooper's level, AND Lamb fell into Dallas' lap.
Two legitimate #1WRs locked up for five years.
