Is your week determined by the Dallas Cowboys?

I ask this because my wife usually leaves during the Cowboys games (due to my ability to laugh, cheer, cry and cuss the entire game). However before she comes home she always checks to see if they won or lost. Says that if they won I will be happy all week, and if they lost then I was just a grumpy sourpuss all week. I think she's exaggerating a little but I will say that at least the first few days of the week are either bad or good based on the outcome of the game. Good because my team won...bad because being in the military means I'm around every type of fan imaginable and I'm the only one who has to hear about my beloved team when they go down.

So how bout you fellow boyz fans...does a loss/win affect your week?

Yes, it was magnified this year because I was on crutches the entire winter. Out of school, out of work, the whole deal. They were basically all I had. It sucked, I was a nervous wreck all season. And it ruined my Thanksgiving lol

Usually over it by Monday after a loss on Sunday. That Sunday night I have a hard time sleeping because I keep playing it over in my head. I normally do not feel like watching the Sunday night game or the Monday night game however who is playing can alter that.

Not any more, .. oh it used to, .. but not any more.

Fool me once, shame on you, .. fool me twice, shame on me.

Fool me 16 -17 seasons is a row, .... they need to prove something to me before I am going to lay my heart out on the table again.

I need to see that something has changed, on the field of battle. Convince me that it is going to be different.

Some time during last season I began to approach Cowboys games like the parents of the chubby Little Leaguer.

They go to every game, they cheer him on, they love him unconditionally, they support him, they hope for the best, .. but they realize that at the end of the game, he is not going to rip the line drive into the RF corner for the game-winning triple.

Last season's Commander game, Romo popped up to the pitcher at the end of the game.

Yes, why? Does this mean I'm crazy? If it does, does this also mean that I can eat ice cream for every meal, all day long?

Never mind, now that I think about it, that's tonsils right. OK, never mind.

Couldn't have said it better myself - well.....I probably could have but I'm too lazy. ;) j/k

Once they prove they can seriously contend, and by doing that, I mean win some playoff games and not talk about things, then I will watch the game for what it is - a game.

When they start winning playoff games, that changes things for me but.............it's been a while.

Back in the day, they contended EVERY year, or damn close to it, so when they lost, it hurt more, because it meant more.

I think we all have to be a little crazy to still love the Cowboys the way we do ABQ

Heck no, if they lose I just go on with life and will come here to vent whenever time permits. I honestly don't even care if I am in front of the TV by the time the game starts at this point since I DVR every game. If I'm late getting in front of the TV then I just get the benefit of Fast Forwarding through the commercials.

If they lose, I definitely don't watch highlights or Sportscenter or NFL network til they start on next weeks games. Fantasy football helps take off the edge. They win, I am talking so much junk, watching press conferences, the whole bit. LOL

If they win, its much more enjoyable to discuss the highlights of the game and which players did really well. I go to bed sunday night on a higher note if they win.

If they lose, as sunday comes to an end certain plays tend to go over and over in my mind, there is a tendency to think that they should have done this or that, why did the coach call that play, they might have won if they had changed something....and so on. After a day or so Im looking forward to the next game.

But this year i am going to try something a little different. The reality is that usually the better team wins and its not so simple as one or two plays that determined the outcome in full of the game. So im going to try to watch a little more objectively and watch the game as if im evaluating the teams ability to do certain things agianst their opponent from week to week. So basically, if they are not good enough to win on a particular sunday, Im going to say to myself "well they gave it their best but couldnt get it done today" and recognize that they still have work to do. The point is, there is no sense in getting mad at a team that plays hard but loses to a better team. What can you do if you fight a superior opponent and get beat ? Its just accepting a reality rather than wishing your team is better than it is.

Now, wish me luck with that because as a fan, that is easier said than done.

At the lowest time in my life, I did not have much to look forward to other than cowboys games and I lived and died with the outcome. If they lost Sunday or Monday night (or had a miraculous win) I would call in sick to work. All I did all day long was look for cowboys info all day long on these forums.

Over the years though its toned down big time, probably cause its replaced with massive disappointment every year. This is the first summer in a long time where I have not really looked forward to the up coming season with any excitement. We all know how it's going to end...it's like that abusive relationship you can't walk away from but after a while it just sours and disinteresting.

Sadly, yes. Its Mr. Hyde or Dr. Jekyll depending on whether the Cowboys win or lose. :D

LOL, yeah my wife gets a little ticked when I watch the entire game, they win, and then I have to watch all that stuff afterwards. She's like "You just watched the whole freaking game, why do you have to watch highlights? You know they won!"

Once the Cowboys lose a game at the end, or close to the end...not a big deal for me. Five minutes later I could not care less, I only wait until the next game. Football is just a past time for me. I have much important things in life.

I still get ticked off to this day. But it helps to come here and vent and listen to the post game radio shows here in Dallas. It helps me relax and know that I'm not the only one who cares so much for this team.

Back in the day when I was younger I would go nuts and not be a happy camper if we lost.

The funny thing is I find myself today critiquing every play, and move and sometimes it's so stressful to even watch a game. It kills me to watch this team that is talented, but for some reason cannot get it together. Coaching blunders out the wazoo, and injuries, etc. I'm now almost certain Jerry did honestly make a deal with the devil in the 90's.
