Isn't this a "forum"?

really? interesting. I always call it going off on a tangent...then again, i've seen like 5 minutes of Monty Python, so that reference probably went over my head.

Monty Python is all about going off in tangents. Take half an hour to watch the TV show sometime and you'll see what I mean.

1.the marketplace or public square of an ancient Roman city, the center of judicial and business affairs and a place of assembly for the people.
2.a court or tribunal: the forum of public opinion.
3.an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
4.the Forum, the forum in the ancient city of Rome.

So, what's wrong with "negative" posters or "homers"?
What's up with all the criticism about other members?

Isn't that the point?

:star:
Theres nothing wrong, You can say what ever you want..Some other people might not like it but that's how forums work. Not everybody is going to agree with everybody.

There was some guys on here saying Stanback had no upside...I got pretty pist off and didnt agree. but at the end of the day it doesnt matter because We all support the same team.

Question? Given the fact it is a "forum" shouldn't people who get tired of the "homers" and "negative posters" have a chance to say so?

That is the point. As long as the disagreements are somewhat civil they are fine. If someone doesn't like all the optimism, they can say so. If someone doesn't like all the negativism, they can say so.

The optimists always think there's too much negativity.

The pessimists always think their opinions aren't welcome.

All that tells me is this place is run right if both sides feel persecuted, and they do.
Well said, Hos...
as always.

I definitely agree that this isn't a perfect world, but I just wanted to point out the fact that I don't see anything wrong with the Debbie Downers that float around every message board or the posters who wear homer-colored glasses.

Do we ban any posters for being "Debbie Downers", or "homers"??

Both are welcome here, but if you put something out there, you have to accept the consequences of what you post...

I wonder if Alby even realizes how completely presumptuous it is of him to criticize the dynamics of a board that has existed as long as this one has... seems he thinks he can breeze in here, and tell the mods how they ought to do their job...

The irony is, if the mods listened to him, it would harm this board irreparably... it wouldn't be any FUN any more, and lots of posters would just wander away...

And if he thinks the Roman Senate was a civil place, where no bitter arguments ever took place, then he really doesn't have a clue how the original Forum worked...

Yep he went there.

Just wait, he might go Bryan Adams on us before long.

That's not always a bad thing. There are some really annoying posters here.

Nothing wrong with "glass-is-half-empty" negative posters... and there's nothing wrong with "glass-is-half-full" optimistic posters, either. And there's nothing wrong with people calling them too negative or too positive.

What bothers me is when someone is just plain silly with what they're saying. Like saying that our 2nd and 3rd string guys not playing well in the first preseason game means that our season is in serious trouble.

That is just crazy. It's so far off base that it doesn't even make sense... and when something like that just doesn't make sense, then you have to wonder if it isn't a Philly or Washington fan posing as a Dallas fan just to cause dissent.

And there IS something wrong with that. You almost have to hope for their sake that they are a rival fan just trying to cause problems... because if they're really a Cowboy fan and they actually have those extremely negative views of everything... then they're bound to be miserable and ought to go watch basket-weaving.

With as many people as there are on this forum... there is going to be fans calling each other out over differing opinions. That's OK too and frankly, doesn't deserve to have YOU call them out for that.
