Isn't Tony Pollard an unrestricted FA after this season?

lol so zeke has 20 more carries despite missing a game. yeah. sounds to me like he's featured. anyway, good stuff man. hope it was cathartic
You could use your big boy hands and brain to pull up his game logs rather than just typing based off vibes and opinion.

TP had 15 touches Sunday.
Week before? 13
Week before that? 12

His role with or without Zeke is largely unchanged.
Dallas recognizes he is a weapon and has been getting him 10+ touches a game, Zeke or no Zeke.

If you let Jerry trigger you, then again that is on you as an adult with a brain.

I think he will demand around 8-9m per year
I wouldn’t rule out a franchise tag but I would need to hear what that comp would be before I would make a more educated guess
Not sure about all that

but a hypothetical scenario if he Zeke accepts team friendly deal you find Pollards number, then go to zeke say we are cutting you IF you don't take XAmount pay cut and completely redo his deal, not extend and use that exact savings and keep them both for the same price as you basically had for 22..

makes sense to me if zeke want to finish as cowboy accept a pay cut to keep pollard or get cut..

what is the FT cap hit for a RB?

this is what they SHOULD do...but I doubt they will. This is what winning organization's do. They'll keep Zeke in '23, let Pollard walk and draft someone else...then cut Zeke in '24
Franchise tag at RB is right at 10M.
That would be a pretty bad financial move but one they MAY feel necessary.

Like paying your mortgage on credit card it is a worst-case scenario.

If they cut Zeke they get zero.
If they let Pollard walk into a 10M a year deal they get an R4 comp pick.

If they match an 8M a year deal they can likely have cap hit range below 5M next year. IF they tag him they eat 10M on cap that is already very tight.

The good news is who ever gets him will get a back with few miles on him because Dallas refused to use him untill maybe now. He's probably still got 2 good years left after this year. No dallas shouldn't pay him. What Dallas should have done is use him more and hopefully they will do that to finish off this season. Let him walk and get that comp pick. Do not pay running backs.

Zeke's contract was and is designed to be cut after this season. If he stays it will be under a completely new deal making peanuts compared to what he makes now.

Zeke will be a salary cap casualty come June and Pollard should be a Cowboy for a while.

even though it didn't work out, i still can't get over letting demarco walk and him signing with the eagles.

it's a reason why Cowboys let Murray walk ... they apparently thought he was just a serviceable workhorse at best.
Even though with the likes of HOF'ers Emmitt, Dorsett, and 2 time rushing champ Zeke Elliott, Murray is still currently holds the Cowboys all time single season rushing record.

The very next season afterwards we thought RB Joseph " meat on the bone" Randle would be a suitable replacement for Murray. LOL ...Go Figure.
Luckily our disaster season that year landed us ZKE with the 4th overall pick in the NFL draft.

smart thing would be to franchise him twice and then let him go.

Yeah we could do a transition tag also. I think that nets a 2nd and doesn't guarantee such a high salary. Could be wrong, I'm a bit hazy on the details.

Yes, he will be an UFA next season. I would say his contract would be in the 3 year $21m range....based on the market. That is of course JMHO...:D
Sign me up for this. Tell Zeke his value is now 5 mil per year and move forward.

Cut Zeke, tag Pollard. Then draft a RB in the 3rd or 4th. Deep RB class this year.
If Pollard was a 5th year vet with 1,000 carries I would say, yes, tag him. But he didn't run much in college and has very limited touches. The problem with RBs isn't age so much as it being a work horse for several years.

Look at Larry Johnson. Didn't start for 3 or 4 years but when he got his bell cow workload he seemed fresh. Then after 4 or 5 years being the work horse he was done.
