johnny cash is proud of him.
Strangely enough, he also asked that his name be spelled...

He should have chosen Dak as his nick name that would have been greatWhy is everyone getting so bent out of shape that the man clarified what his preferred name is?
Because it's short for Degarrick. Understandable that he wouldn't want an extra e.
I've known scads of folks that go by their middle name. Usually named after their dad, but not always.
Ole' Sammy should have addressed the name issue when he was in college. If people weren't calling you by your preferred name in your first interview since the draft, wouldn't you tell them?

Cousins with CeeDee?DE De Williams
Deedee
Maybe he did. Maybe the school insisted that he be addressed by his first name, not his middle name. Maybe he just got used to people in authoritative positions calling him by his first name, and was shy about correcting them. Whatever the case, it shouldn't be such a big deal to call him what his family and friends call him. We do it with CeeDee, so how is this different?Ole' Sammy should have addressed the name issue when he was in college.

Slow off seasonWhy, sure -- and Dak should let it be known that he wanted to be known as "De." Sounds perfectly sensible to me . . .![]()

I've gone by my family's nickname since before I even knew what my real name was. I don't like being called by my real name, yet I never said anything to my teachers until I was a senior in high school, and that's probably only because we moved to a different state, and I could start over.Ive gone by mine since I was born.
Exactly smhNobody makes fun of Cowboys players like Cowboys “fans” do. I swear if they read what their fans say about them online… it’s a miracle they ever sign any autographs at all.
5 minutes after getting drafted he wants to change his name. Great. He that Deh? or Dee?
