It Finally Happened

Eight games isn't enough. Too bad Wade wasn't fired sooner.

He's been here for a few years now he isn't a new born. He ran half the team.
Now he has the other half, half a season should be a pretty good gauge.

lol, seriously Hos. Another JG thread? You love this stuff, just admit you love arguing with people about him!

I think 8 games is a very good length of time to measure his ability to provide solid "leadership and direction". (as noted by someone earlier) By season's end we will know whether or not he has the potential to be a keeper. If so, let him help get a real OC and DC in here and leave him to serve as the king policy setter.

I don't know about you but I am about ready to go dance in the streets!!!! Wade is gone! WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I appreciate the good times and thank him for that. The bad times have gotten really bad and it was beyond time for him to exit stage left.

Now, please excuse me while I go streaking.

I disagree.

Payton wasn't given an 8 game test. He got 3 seasons. That's all I am saying.

I think we are good.

I am excited about seeing Garrett as HC.

I think we are witnessing history. How aproppos that it's in 50th year. Landry jr anyone?

I like Garrett and always have.

That's why I just grimace. This is the worst possible situation. The dynamics are almost guaranteed to flush Garrett's coaching career into the toilet.

He has a very good shot at ending his NFL head coaching career 0-8 or 1-7 and never getting another shot again.

I am too. Don't know how it will end up, and not many fans will buy Garrett right now. Proof will be in pudding.

But man I hope it works out, since if it does, there wont be any more revolving doors at HC with COwboys IMO. I am sick of seeing all these short term solutions. Thats why I hated Jerry hire of Wade Phillips,. YOu could see from mile away that it was a short term fix or hope. I have never seen those work.

Chin up. The odds are very much in his favor.

It could, but how would you know it will be "guaranteed"? Are you a used car salesmen?

way too early to put garretts name in the same sentence as landry and johnson.

"Ok Jason, Wade complained at first too, but don't worry you learn to get used to it." - Jerry

I'm a long time Garret fan as a player. I can remember following Garrett as the QB of the San Antonio Riders in the World League. I followed him and a RB whose name I can't remember who also played for the Cowboys. Ricky something....Ricky Blake, just looked it up...I think I remember him getting injured and his career cut short.

Anyway, I do think Garrett has some of the traits a head coach needs. I was excited when he came here as OC. But even with the success the offense had, there were many moments where I did not like his play calling. There would just be play calls that didn't make sense to me. It'd be 3rd & 1 and he'd call a run that gets the ball to the RB 5 yards deep behind the LOS, making a short yardage play longer and harder. I can say that overall, I wasn't much of a fan of him as an OC.

Now I'll be rooting for him as a head coach. It sounds like he could be a disciplinarian these players need. But my real concern with the Cowboys is these players. We have a core of players who are either well in their prime or leaving it. I put most of the blame on them for this season's failures. Now I question anyone can get them motivated and into contender at this point (not this year, I mean ever at this point). Even if it doesn't create a spark this year and he gets a chance to coach next year, it might still be too late with this core of players.

He'll do to ride the river with( that is an old western saying). Garrett is for real.

Why do you care and who is arguing with me today? I see a lot of people suddenly excited. It's like hope has been restored for some fans.

I didn't mind Jimmy, but I never wanted Barry, Chan, Dave, or Wade. I did want Bill. This feels like family. Perhaps like the Bears felt when Ditka was hired by the Bears.

To me it's a good day. If others disagree, then they disagree.

Just the idea that you're so excited you started a new thread about the guy, which is clearly gonna draw all the same people from the other thread where the JG battle rages on.

Every week, your Touch posts turn into some sort of Civil War over Garrett, and it's always fun to watch people try to convince you that what you think is not what you think.

Was it fun today to watch gears strip after the PC? I swear the whole forum slammed into reverse.

I will be hopeful that you're right, Hos. I gotta tell ya though...it feels like we're gonna get more of the same.
Just happy Wade is finally gone!! Break out the Patron Silver!!
