It has to be Wade Phillips

I don't think so.. but I see your logic But this is a different situation. Garrett's dream Job is the HC of the Cowboys.. and he needs to wait for 2 years, which I think is the plan,, then he will. I don't see Garrett going anywhere even for a HC opportunity.
Well, I hope you're right about that or else we will be reliving the Sean Payton debacle.

It would be a very similar situation to what happened in St. Louis with Vermiel and Martz.

Hopefully with a Super Bowl included as well!!!

I don't see how Ryan or Rivera makes sense. They'd be great coaches but they don't make sense. It is pretty clear that Garrett comes in as heir apparent to the HC job. A young coach doesn't want to look over his shoulder -- older guys like Norv or Phillips. They know they aren't viewed as long term HC candidates anywhere -- so you take your 3 or 4 year contract and collect on it.

Exactly

Wade will be the HC. We need a 3-4 defensive guy badly.

To me giving the job to JG would be scary as heck.

Giving it to Wade is even scarier. ;)

Don't write off Gary Gibbs so quickly, my friends. The fat lady ain't sung yet.

nothin' with the taint of ou should ever be in a supervisory roll again at valley ranch!

If it's Wade, and in 2 years we win the SB, we are in a win win situation. If it's Wade, and he sucks, guess who gets the promotion?

there is no way on this green earth that we will be able to hold onto Jason as OC for 2-4 years, so throw that part of your plan out the window.

I have to disagree...you can bet your bottom dollar that Jason Garrett would not leave Dallas for a HC job somewhere else just because it comes a little sooner. Face it, until Dallas stepped up, no one had even offerred JG an OC job.

He and his family are Dallas Cowboys people...I'd bet it's his dream job, and he's smart enough to wait if that's what it takes. If he's in Dallas, doing great, and JJ assures him when someone comes knocking that he's the next HC, maybe even making him assistant HC at the time, there's no way Jason leaves Dallas for Arizona or Buffalo or some other job just because he gets the position a year or two sooner.

Jason Garrett came home to Dallas for a reason...there's a reason he signed a contract without even knowing what his actual title will be this year. The only way Jason Garrett leaves Dallas is if he's unsuccessful.

It makes too much sense not to be Wade or Ryan. Maybe even Rvera, if you're looking to stretch a bit. Norv makes no sense at all. It seems like we're killing time waiting for the super bowl to be over, though.

Seems to me as well. May just be due diligence in interviewing Turner and Rivera as well as maybe Lovie (my personal choice). Or they are hashing out contract stuff behind the scenes before making a call between two candidates.
