It occurs to me that Romo is the offensive genius, not the coaches

understood. but every elite player is elite because they have abilities and can do things others can't. if everyone could do it, then there wouldn't be any elite's. Romo is key to this team as are those other QBs. their coaches count on their abilities and scheme for it to take advantage of their uniqueness. just because romo does what he does....doesn't mean that the scheme is bad or he is covering up warts..... all of htose guys cover a lot of warts.......

The warts I speak of aren't with the scheme rather with imperfect execution of that scheme and despite that imperfect execution of the scheme, Romo (and the other elites you mentioned) are able to overcome and make positive plays when otherwise we would have what we've had the past three weeks.

I think we are both agreeing on the same thing. it takes good players to execute

Remember when Romo signed his new contract and Jerry said we're going to give him more control over the offense? It occurs to me that it's not Linehan or Garrett who were the brains behind our premier offense last season, but rather Tony. The drop off since he got hurt has been stunning. I realize a lot of that has to do with his talent, but he's got to be one of the top in the league at recognizing defenses and knowing what the offense needs to do. I think he's been operating at a Peyton Manning level regarding strategy - recognizing defenses and knowing the right play to call.

The only credit I give to Linehan and Garrett is getting out of the way and letting Tony do his thing. But who knows? Maybe Jerry told them they had to, and Jerry actually deserves the credit. To be honest, when Jerry said that a few years ago I was skeptical it was a good plan, but I've got to give him props on getting Tony more authority over the offense.

you just figured that out? ;)

Lets just look at the facts for a moment............Romo has been a starting QB in the current NFL for over 10 years. A pro bowl talent dissecting defenses, making pro bowls and being the leader of a team. The entire franchise depends on him.

Garrett was a backup, journeyman scrub for several different teams and started less that 5 games his entire career? Who do you think knows more about modern offenses Jason Garrett or Tony Romo? Its almost laughable if you think about it. Romo is more qualified to be a coach than Garrett is.

It turns out, QBs capable of leading the league in efficiency have a fairly large impact on their teams.

That said, if you're losing the turnover margin on a weekly basis, and playing good teams in the process, you're going to lose more than you win. These three losses have been a lot more about the whole team than some of our resident homers would like to admit. It's always easier emotionally to blame the QB who just got sat, but the problems have been more significant than that.

Agreed. Like getting out coached. And if you truly think the QB that just sat down wasnt a huge problem, then it fits right in line with your typical analysis of the team.

Heck, even your hero Garrett knew enough to make the big change. So obviously he disagrees with you. I dont like Garrett, but he was smart enough to figure that one out. Same with Michaels. I guess he didnt agree with you that we would be just fine with Dunbar, McChicken, and Randle.

So how do you know it was him that checked out of all of those running plays in the Green Bay game? Maybe if Romo had a proper coach - he wouldn't have to be "the coach" on the field and play the QB position as well.

Garrett admitted to the national media afterwards that he completely screwed up in that game by not running the ball more. Jerry hammered Garrett and Garrett and the stones to admit his mistake publicly. Unfortunately he did the same thing several times afterwards.

Genuses win the Motel Peace Prize, the Pulitzer and the FanDuel sweepstakes. Someone wake me when Genus Tony Romo takes this team to the Super Bowel this year or ever.

And if Romo is a genus, then there must be 5 other genuses out there in the NFL. Genus with Super Bowel rings and more than 2 career playoff wins.

A Romo hater. LOL

I thought you guys had disappeared forever. Welcome back. I guess with him getting hurt and the season being all but toast you feel confident enough to bring the old "let me know when Romo wins a championship" mantra up again.

What you fails to grasp in some here is the frusterations of Cowboy fans who do not question his great play and individual stats butt his complete and udder futility in the playoffs. That is, on the rare years he leads this team to the playoffs.
Yes, silly Cowboys fans who pine for a championship. At this point, like you, some here would settle for him getting a 3rd CAREER playoff win. Heck even reaching the playoffs would be something.
I like championships.Do you?
Do other top-tier QBs half playoff wins? Yes, lots. There is even one who half more Sper Bowel wins than he half playoff wins.
Do not misundertake dissent for disloyalty. There is no hate because hate spelt backwards is etah which is Indonesian for frustration.
Ok what is a mantra. I am a JC tranfer and dont half a dictionery handy. but google say it does so I will look it up.
I hope it is a clean word, mister Silver Words guy.

For those who use coarse words and dream off the destruction off others, it is a ignoble fate to be among the coarse. Among the disfilers off vision and thought. This ist the avatar checking out and again good work gimmie. You exceed the moral quota from the coarse.
