Good move on Davis part then. He wanted market value, nothing wrong with that.. I'm glad we signed him. He's a mauler at the G position..

Have we signed our next big mauler at Guard yet??? Link? :D

Hey someone tell the doubters that we're not looking at this guy to play the tackle position. Thanks.

Agreed. Congrats to Leonard. I also agree that there is nothing wrong with getting paid market value. I just happen to feel that this current trend is a market bubble. (In fact, I still have some internet stocks left over from 2000 that I paid market value for...I'm sure that value made them worth it.)

I was a guy who liked, not loved, Derrick Dockery. I wanted the Skins to resign him. But after seeing the deal that he received I was awfully glad that they didn't.

L. Davis certainly has the tools, now we'll see if he has the interest. Especially with a (reportedly) landmark amount of coin in his pockets.

The current trend is not a market bubble if the cap continues to go up year after year after year.

Of course, the cap going up depends on revenues, etc. But with the way the NFL is being marketed, including overseas, it could be several years before the cap is left unchanged.

I think that average guards getting 50 mil/7 yr/18+SB contracts is indeed a market bubble.

When Hutchinson recently signed a similar deal he was widely considered to be the best in the business at that position. Now, one year later much lesser talents are getting it? Does that mean that next year average cb's will be signing 80 mil contracts with 23 mil signing bonuses?

Look, if the cap keeps increasing the way it has over the past 5-7 years, it will happen.

I know the numbers are insane, but this is an entertainment business. It's not in check with the reality most of us are used to.

It all depends on the revenues, marketing of the sport, etc.

Folks like you (cap "experts" stating the Skins had no room for any more FA action) have been saying that since 2000 and have been wrong every year. If we want the guy, Snyder will find a way. The true question is do we want him bad enough to outbid you guys for him. I hope not....the money Dockery got was absurd and Davis is likely to get similar cash based on what the market is dictating.

The interesting aspect is all 3 teams involved (gmen, skins, boys) want to use him differently.

I just can't believe the money these guys who are merely above average are getting.

And how is that working out for you guys?
