It Was Fun While It Lasted

We may have competition in our division for 3rd place.

The Cowboys are easily the most mis-managed team in the NFL (actually maybe 2nd after the Bengals).

That's shooting pretty high dont you think!!!!

See Mike Vick as exhibit A for someone who, early in his career, never looked down field once he took off but now is very good at doing it.

And he just had his best season ever. It only took him a bunch of years in the league and some jail time to get to that point. Very hard to break the habit. Because those guys who just take off don't have a feel for what is happening downfield, they just see a bunch of moving players. Guys like Brady and Rogers, you can just sense it when they're looking downfield, they really SEE what is happening, others are just pretending to look.

It really is the "it" that QBs must have. Nine times out of ten, you either do or you don't. It is very rare when one doesn't have it, but eventually gets it. Vick might be one.

I don't think there's much argument against the statement that we appear to have less talent currently than last year. But it's still too early to hit the panic button.

If you have low expectations for this season, then there's no reason to panic. Aikman having back surgery right before training camp in 1993 was panic time.

Did we play better in the second half? Absolutely, but you are what your record says.
Yeah, just like those 1999 Colts who should have just packed it up and went home before the season started...or the 2001 Patriots...or the 1999 Rams...or the 2008 Dolphins...the 2006 Saints...the 2000 Saints...the 2004 Steelers.....the 2009 Bengals...the 1991 Broncos...the 2009 Packers...the 2010 Chiefs...the 2005 Giants...etc, etc.

Witten is really starting to look old to me, fellas. He hasn't dropped off the cliff like MBIII did, but I'm starting to see some really disturbing signs.
Seriously? What signs are you referring to? Is it the 94 receptions last year or the 1002 yards? Or is it the career high 9 TDs?

You are talking about the TE who had one of his best season ever as a pro, right? The guy who is on pace to come close to or break virtually all receiving records by TEs?

Just checking...

Isn't this guy (the OP) the illiterate vegetarian from that other Cowboys forum?

Those guy are notorious whiners.

I'm just saying it's too early to panic. If we stay like this, then by all means panic. I know I will.

We shouldn't be panicking at all. If we are 1-4, 0-5 after the first month of so that is when you panic.

Geez his optimism deflates almost as quickly as his inflatable doll.

Guys who bring up things like inflatable dolls and make homosexual references do so because it's at the top of their minds. It's kind of ironic really-- you spend all your time telling someone they're gay or that they like inflatable dolls when all you're really doing is letting everyone know exactly what's on your mind.

Why do we have to listen to this "The Sky Is Falling" speach every year when the Cowboys don't sign every big name free agent on the market.

The Commanders always sign big name free agents and have huge money wrapped up in a few players and absolutely NO dept behind them. They have won the offseason each and every year for the past 8 - 10 years, and yet once the season starts, they still stink!

Each and every off season some people on this board convince themselves that Dallas will draft 5 or 6 1st round players in the draft and sign the top 5 free agents on the market. These same people are in the fetal position by Sunday afternoon of draft weekend and by the second day of free agency. I am amazed that this continues to happen!

I have been warning people for over a month that the Cowboys would not pursue Nnamdi, Huff, or any of the big name free agents, and yet people are still freaking out because we haven't signed any of these players. Amazing!

I will admit that losing Bowen disappoints me a little, but I'm sure I will get over it. Teams cannot even announce free agent signings until Saturday. I am pretty confident that Jerry and company will sign one a probably two safeties, a defensive end or two and maybe even an offensive guard. At the beginning of the week there were somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 free agents on the market. You cannot tell me that they are all gone. Get real people.

Take a deep breath....relax....and enjoy the season!

It's kind of too late to panic at that point...

Wrong. Last pre-season, the "all is well!" sunshine brigade endlessly and annoyingly told us not to worry about the woeful offense. "Stop overreacting! It's just a vanilla offense! They'll turn it around in the regular season! You'll see!" Still waiting for the mea culpa.
