well you are missing the point about not trading down a few spots with Baltimore. Neither Jacksonville nor Blatimore were taking Elliot, but a number of teams would of traded with Jacksonville to get in front of us. So best move was to stay.
Think you are over analyzing the comparison od AP to Elliot. Elliot does it all. Block, catch, and even a little running :)

I honestly don't believe there was another team willing to trade into the 5 spot to take Elliot. I just don't see it.

I think Garrett and Jerry wanted EE and we have tried to come up with any excuse to pick him.

I think they believe he's Emmitt 2.0 which is optimistic to say the least.

So how exactly did those stats translate into us putting points on the board? How about you tell us the conversion rate on 3rd and short yardage situations in 2015 vs 2014?

One of the things that allowed an average defense to have more success in 2014 was that they were playing from ahead so often. Our defense can't and won't get better until we get better from the offense.

So you're putting the difference in production between 2014 and 2015 on the rb?

LOL

Apparently you missed the careers of Ladanian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas, Adrian Peterson, and 30 others.

And yes, I firmly believe he's in that class.

Did you just list a group of Hall of Famers?

Calling anyone in the class of HoFers before they've been through a single NFL training camp is...so silly.

You have to be joking.

That is ridiculous.

How many years did San Diego get out of LT? Dallas out of Emmitt?

Look how many fans wanted Demarco back a couple of months ago.

I don't believe rbs last that long anymore, but even if he did and he is this grand exception Dallas won't pay him what he wants for a second contract.

It shows the incompetence of our organization and just the complete lack of forward thinking.

And let's face facts, the days of Jerry actually wheeling and dealing and fleecing a team in a trade int he draft and having the Cowboys come out on top are long gone. I guess business has changed because his negotiation skills are a joke.

We took a Big-10 RB in an Urban Meyer system with not nearly the athleticism and explosiveness of Adrian Peterson 4th overall when Peterson was taken 7th overall. We were supposedly offered a trade with the Ravens that we didn't take. Jerry trying to claim the Ravens were taking EE is nonsense. They had no reason to pick him up when they had been looking at Stanley, Tunsil and Ramsey all along. So we could have traded down, still gotten EE and then used that trade down to then trade up and get Lynch.

Meanwhile, we missed in what Mike Mayock called a 'once in a generation defensive back' on a team that desperately needs DB's. And as far as Mayock goes, he's got a great track record with judging DB's (likely because he was a former CB himself).

We'll go 8-8 again and move to 17th in the draft and Romo will eventually have to retire and we'll be stuck trying to find a replacement with the 17th overall pick that has to start right away. So then we'll give up the farm to move up the draft to hopefully get a QB that can play.

What Jerry said the Ravens wanted is a matter of public record. If it hasn't been denied by the Ravens, you don't have much of a leg to stand on. Ravens do have a need at RB so it is plausible they liked Zeke there as well.

It makes sense if you are trying to improve your offense that Zeke is the best skill position player in this draft. The QBs were gone so their scarcity is a moot point. He's got a fair chance to be more productive in the passing game than all of the WR prospects and that is before you consider his run and block abilities. He can run the route tree and has a high ceiling in that regard.

Linehan did work with Faulk in STL so our coordinator knows how to run that type of scheme as well. Think of how Emmitt was used in 94 and 95 after Harper left.

The Ravens heavily interviewed Ramsey along with Stanley and Tunsil. They have never been the same without Ed Reed fully healthy and having Weddle and Ramsey at the safeties is a lethal position. They have routinely found quality RB's in the 2nd and latter rounds.

The War Room video showed Garrett pushing Jerry to 'make the pick already.' This is a Garrett based pick (along with Marinelli) and we passed up a golden opportunity to get the same player and an additional pick. We could have used that additional pick to trade up and get Lynch. Instead, we'll settle for Dak freaking Prescott.

Like I said...it's going to a long road as a Cowboys fan for the foreseeable future. We still think it's 1995 (or 2014).

well it didn't take much excuse to pick him. I respect all opinions, yours included, but you are in the minority my friend. Even Emmitt said Elliot is better than him. Now of course he is being cordial but I have no reason to believe Emmitt was lying in his praise.

It will be awesome with a real RB in the backfield. He can catch, run, and is a good blocker. Will give this offense a whole lot more range than we have had for a long long time, even more than Murray. Elliot is better than Murray.

The term reach like the term need is foolish to me. If the player you like is there you take him. Elliot is going to come right in and make a difference.

The generalization you are using here about the rest of the draft is the result of group think and people listening to pretend experts and insiders.

Twill Escobar, Gaz Green, Wilcox, Hitchens, Street, Swain its a big list of JAGs...the Cowboys are NOT good at drafting outside the 1st round.

Polian didn't rank Ramsey higher. Casserly didn't. McClay didn't. Elliott will have a vastly bigger impact on the NFL the next five years than Ramsey. Just watch.

You could have gotten a really good back......who couldn't pass protect or catch the ball at all.

Rare in rounds 2 or 3? They're all over the league.

Great running backs last far longer than 5 years. Almost ALL of them.

Corners become safeties after a few years if they're lucky.

Corners are easy to take out of games.

There are a lot more picks coming, Scandrick is back, Thornton was signed, Mayowa was signed.

You should try to get a job in Marketing with the Cowboys. Or be Jones little gofer. Everything they do you love. And EVERYTHING will always turn out to be roses.

So how come all this great stuff doesnt show up on the field? It cant have anything to do with the fact that you are wrong most of the time now could it? Or maybe the Cowboys are just unlucky.

NO those are true facts. If this kid was REALLY worth the #4 pick, then you better give him the rock for 400 touches a year and he better be picking up 2000 combined yards a year. How many years do you think he is going to last like that? 5 or 6 if you are lucky?
