It's a game

The NFL has taken a back seat in my life. No more fantasy football and I was a juggernaut at that. No more gambling. I was not a juggernaut at that. No more 6-7 hours watching on Sunday. The Cowboys are laughable to me. My Sunday’s are much easier. This weekend I am going upstate to look at the leaves, drink beer, and do some yard work. I will watch the beginning of the game. If I start to get pissed it’s going off. Truly care less every year.

I get it, we all want to win, but it's a game. It may be more important to some because of the pandemic, or it may mean less to some because of it. At the end of the day, it's a game. Don't get me wrong, I love the banter, the debates, the heated and civil discussions. That's what the game is for. I love it and I wish we were 4-0, but to be honest..........this season, I'm just glad that Garrett is gone, because he Sucks!!!! Salud!

I actually have tattoo on my shoulder with a helmet that says, “Football is Life!” Lol. Something I did in my youthful playing days.....

At any rate, I assume like most, that this 8-8 team from last year would come in and turn it all around with Mike. But unfortunately Covid hit. We also lost our top pressure players from last year and our best tackling LB in Lee in TC. Collins, and Quinn put pressure on the QB folks. We also let Byron leave in FA and let Heath go as well. That’s a lot of turnover to recover from in a 3 week TC. A new scheme that’s 10 times more complex than our vanilla as Darnold said, “we know what Dallas is going to do” defense and yet we are not satisfied.

Sunday I was pissed. I wanted Nolan on a platter.....but after I self evaluated the situation and listening to others realize this was a tough task. A task to turn this D into something when the new staff was left with a pile of crap! Injuries for one. Yes they brought in big names but they haven’t even had time to gel. Griff got here right before the season began almost.

We will see, but I’m still enjoying the hell out of football!

And you’re correct.......JG does suck!!

The best part of being behind is coming back and winning. Bad start to be sure, but time enow to change things around. October 31 is Halloween for some, but opening day of quail season for me.

I’m really hoping this year becomes void and forgotten due to what’s happened. That way we won’t have to remember this horrid team of 2020.

Actually its one of the largest businesses in the country.

Football was my life. It paid the bills for 29 years. The difference is that I controlled what happened on the field. With the Cowboys, I have no control, so i just enjoy it as a game.

Good for you. I still watch, but after years of worrying about my own season, I decided to just enjoy the Cowboys and not get to consumed.
What's your handicap? I was a scratch golfer about 20 years ago when I coached golf. Hit a 384 yard drive once!
My cap, right now, is trending right at bogey golf. Nothing to get excited about but I'm having an absolute blast.

I took about a 6 year hiatus from the game (I was never "good") but from the beginning of last season to right now, I've gone from a 26 to right around 18. Hoping to knock another 8 strokes off by this time next year. We'll see. If the Cowboys get good, I might not make it because I'm a sucker for this god damned team. I'll be back to Saturday only rounds.

Very true, in these crazy times I am thankful that we have football to be a distraction. A very wise and talented man once said, "If losing a football game is the worst thing to happen to me, then I have a pretty good life".

Good post. And you’re probably right about the short time frame. Except, that defensive call on 4th down vs the Seahawks was beyond bad and I hope that’s not an indication of his philosophy. Maybe the players messed up. Sure looked like a lazy zone that made it way too easy.

For sure Garrett sucked. Really bad and for really long.

I'm getting there. On Sunday, I started getting pissed off and *****ing about how the game was going. My wife asked me if I was going to let it ruin my Sunday and I immediately let it go. No, no I'm not. It is just a game that I have no control over.

This is why I laugh when some get made at fans for continuing to watch, and buy tickets and merchandise rather than make a statement by refusing to do any of that. As much as I love the Cowboys, and I'm sure most that post here do as well, the importance of the Cowboys in our lives is far behind things like family and work and friendships etc … Football isn't front and center in our lives, it is a diversion. And obviously that's as it should be the older we get.

Awesome! Drove people wild when he said that. Lol
