You'd never dunk on me even if you had a trampoline and I'd break that finger off and shove up your ***. :laugh2:

I work somewhere that can involve either a lot of standing and working at tables, or some work at a computer desk.

As someone who is relatively tall, I find what the OP said to be very true. To me, all of the tables could be raised an extra 10" or so. The chairs armrests could all raise another 6" or more, and the computer screens or the desks themselves need to raise up a similar amount.

I've worked there 8 years, and every day I'm constantly looking down, which I know has done some pretty substantial damage to the cervical and upper thoracic parts of my spine.

I notice things like this outside of work too, but at least then I don't have to deal with it but for a moment.

Let the short people have their well positioned door handles and knee-accommodating tables.

We tall people make more money, are more intelligent, more attractive and are generally happier people.

At 6'4", I think it's a fair trade off. :D

I'll go with that......

Is it just me, or is the world shrinking?

Exhibit 1. The debit/credit card machines at the grocery check out. Anyone else have to stoop down to read and use them?
Exhibit 2. Do tables a restaurant's seem...lower?
Exhibit 3. Store door handles. It seems I have to reach down further to grab them.
Exhibit 4. Public toilets They just seem to sit lower.

What brought this up was last night I was checking the rear of the house and there are some new railings that cover a short flight of stairs in our Spa. I had to literally bend down for my hand to reach the rail.

Now I'm no giant at Six One and a half. so something strange is going on. And...It's every where!

They should be ADA compliant which is a bit low for many of us

my guess for this would be that everything is designed to be accommodating to the most people. average height of a u.s. male is 5'10" and female is 5'4"ish, that would mean that most things are going to be designed to be comfortable/reachable/accessible for people between that range.

if you wanna blame someone though blame the Mexican-American and Asian-American population for driving the average height of men in this country down, the average height of men in most Asian countries hovers around 5'4" and the average in Mexico is 5'4" so it is reasonable to assume their Asian/Mexican- American counterparts are in that range as well.

from my personal experience i know very very few white or black men that are shorter than me and I'm 5'10" and regularly the smallest man in most rooms

On the flip side, recent studies have suggested that short people have longer lifespans than tall people.

thats only cuz smaller people can dodge cars better
