Its all about perspective

I think you keep your cap healthy and compete every year and do what you can do get better every year. Going all in gets you a dead period where you have no chance.

The more times you make it in the playoffs the better chance you have to eventually cash in a big one.

If they pay Dak, Zeke, Amari, Collins, Jones etc, they are going to run out of money for depth. If we had no depth last year you could have written the year off once Frederick went down.

All good points. Yet what are the results of this last two decades. Now keep in mind McClay makes a difference in talent acquisition. Which means the brain trust has purchased a clue in building a team. But managing the cap to be also-rans is not twirling my beanie any longer.

It's time to close this deal. You have the pieces. Make it so.

In regards to trading away Cooper.

In April 2019 a team with the 11th pick in the draft considers trading for Cooper.

If the pick and contract were the same, GMs would prefer Cooper over a draft pick.
- The exception would be if the draft pick was a Randy Moss talent with no character issues.
- The difference in contracts is the big issue.

Contract Estimates in April 2019 Cooper vs Pick #11 WR

Cooper
(age 24 in April 2019)
2019 14M
2020-2023 72M (18M per)
Total 86M for 5 years.

WR with pick #11
2019-2022 17.6M
2023 12.4M (5th year option)
Total 30M for 5 years.

Difference: 56M over 5 years.

That’s the thing.... if a player was 75 percent of what Cooper was, would Cooper be worth it for the cap hit?

We just have different philosophies on it which is fine.

The cowboys window is right now. Besides the qb, which it looks like we will have for a decade, this is as good as,we are gonna have it. Stud rb, wr, line good, kick add lbs, edge rushers.....the time is now. Not next year, not year after. Dan is steering year 4 as a starter. He isn't inexperienced anymore.

Sign Cooper, sign Dak, sign Zeke
Next year sign Jaylon, sign Jones
In 2 years sign LVE
Keep the OL in tact even if you use a few 1st and 2nd round picks over that span of 3 or 4 years.

If any fan wants this team to be a contender for the next 5 to 6 years that is what you want them to do.
I agree. I have no clue why guys want to get rid of good talent

Why does Bellychickens get rid of good talent? (Hint: Think super bowls)
Do we have a Belichek? No, we don't. We have a coach that needs elite talent and still doesn't get it done. You can't do what the Patriots do because of the coach, so to even say that is foolish.

To even say we should just pay everyone is even more foolish.
