It's all about the trenches!

One stud DT would along way especially if we keep Odighizuwa. With hopefully more progression from Smith and another starting caliber DT to keep snaps down and bodies you could have a strong interior.

There are tons of DT's in this draft that walk through to door as starting quality players. And not even just round 1
If we are sitting here the start of day 3 without a DT, it's a massive fail!

Yes but good luck convincing Jerry that DT is that important. Since he became owner, they have only drafted DT in the 1st round of the 1991 and 2023 Draft. La'roi Glover was a major FA signing at DT but that was over 20 years ago. Jerry will continue to draft and spend plenty of resources on edge rushers because he loves those players who can rack up tons of sacks but there will always be a hole in the middle.

and when they finally do use a First, they pick a guy who never really produced or showed much in college.

Just look how the Eagles were able to dominate the Chiefs OL without the need of the blitz, very similar to the Giants against the Patriots. Look what a strong OL does for an elite running back, Barkley living up to his draft hype of being the next Barry Sanders. Just look at all the resources within their lines and it will tell you why they are contending every single year.
I think the Cowboys should trade their best trench player (Tyler Smith) to the Bears for the 10th pick in the draft. Then look to trade one or both of our first round picks for future draft capital. The Eagles used multiple first round selections from trading Wentz and trading down with Miami to get multiple first round selections in 3 different draft classes. That was the basis of them winning their Super Bowl.
Plus I am not sure if they can or should pay another big contract to a guard.

Bringing back Osa and finding another stud rusher opposite of Micah would have us pretty darn close!

The way to rebuild is not trading your Guard, but rather your QB. Eagles were lucky that Hurts hit, which allowed them to trade away Wentz when he still had value.

Tyler is the only tradable piece that anyone would want. He has 3 good years and a team could see him as a missing link. Love Tyler but guards are not hard to find.

The Eagles are not lucky. Their general manager knows what he is doing. Hurts was the anti Wentz. Howie not only built a team around the kid, he paid him too. Our owner/GM is talking crap on our quarterback and won’t give him any help. Next season is going to be a disaster. I am sick of this mess. I might take a month away from the board. The Eagles look like the 90s Cowboys.

I do think coaching makes a big difference and in terms of the front seven I think Eberflus will get the most out of our LBs. Jaylon Smith and LVE probably had their best seasons when he was here. I also like the DL coach they hired, the Jets DL was very good. I also like the new OC and OL coaches (until proven otherwise) and think they will be upgrades from last year.

Fangio is the third DC for the Eagles in as many seasons and he seemed to make a big difference this year.

Looking at the Eagles front seven:

Jalen Carter Rd1P9 2023
4.5 SCK 42 TKL 12 TFL 16 QBHits

Jordan Davis Rd1P13 2022
1 SCK 27 TKL 3 TFL 1 QBHit

Milton Williams Rd3P73 2021

Nolan Smith Rd1P30 2023

Nakobe Dean Rd3P83 2022

Josh Sweat Rd4P180 2018

Zack Baun Free agent signing 2024 1 year $3.5M

Cowboys front seven:

Marshawn Kneeland Rd2P56

Osa Odighizuwa (FA) Rd3P75
47 TKL 4.5 SCK 5TFL 23 QBHits

Mazi Smith Rd1P26 2023
41 TKL 1 SCK 4 TFL 3 QBHits

Micah Parsons Rd1P21 2021
43 TKL 12 SCK 12 TFL 23 QBHits

Marist Liufau Rd3P87 2024

Demarvion Overshown Rd3P90 2023 (IR)
118 TKL 5 SCK 8 TFL 5 QBHits

Damone Clark Rd5P176 2022

Osa had the same sack count more QBHits and more tackles than Jalen Carter. If they don't bring him back and replace him through the draft. It's possible to get good production from a rookie 3T. Braden Fiske had a very good season for the Rams.

Mazi Smith
Stats don't tell the whole story but his stats in his second season compare favorably to Jordan Davis' stats this year in his third season. Nobody questioned his athleticism coming out of Michigan and it's possible Whitecotton will bring out his best in his prove it season. They may choose to bring in a BJ hill type free agent but I don't know if they'll draft a NT with their first pick

Parsons is a game wrecker

I think it's too early to give up on Williams, and Kneeland looked good for a rookie but they should sign a free agent as well. When I looked it up I was surprised Baun only cost $3.5M

With Overshown having a serious injury and Kendricks a free agent they definitely need to do something at LB

It has always been about the trenches and it is criminal to pay MP big dollars and not surround him with quality DTs.

One extra first rd pick with do little to fix this roster and you still have to replace a quality starter who actually plays well against the Eagles best player.

Really would love to sign Nick Bolton, he is the closest thing to Sean Lee who Eberflus also coached.

You use the two first round picks to rebuild the roster by turning the picks into ether more picks or.even a future first round pick like the Eagles did. It will probably be more than a 4 year process but the Joneses are cheap so this is the best chance we would have. We have a young coaching/player developing coaching staff. Perfect for a rebuild in my opinion. Signing Dak was a huge blunder.

with Mazi the stats don't matter. Except for parts of a game or two he is INVISIBLE. No coaching is going to help that

This is the draft to load up the DL, they can realistically draft either Pierce or Green and then add a DT and a running back on day 2.

He would be a good one. And to think we could have had him instead of Joseph. I haven't looked at all the FA LBs but there were a few that looked good.

I’d love a front 7 heavy draft.

1 - Pearce
2 - Williams (DT)

He was all over the place yesterday, always around the football.

And yet at least on the Oline they don’t have all #1 picks. Becton is a reclamation project and Malata was just a great scout find. They drafted the OC before Kelce was done as well. Howie has carte Blanche with the team. He can sign and cut whomever he wants at any time. Our Owner falls in love with players.
Becton was a brilliant move by the Eagles. But they also got a bit lucky. His issue with the Jets was he couldn't stay healthy. The Eagles managed to avoid injury with him. But he is a free agent now and I am sure his price tag will be much higher than what the Eagles paid him, $2.75 million for a 1 year deal. I believe he probably earned at least $8 million per year and probably more.

Lane Johnson was a first round pick #4> It is hard to believe Johnson's cap number this year will be less than Terence Steele's. But this is a great example of Jerry overpaying his players.
