I was really hoping this season was different. It's not. We had a chance to beat a good team without Tony and show that we've learned other ways to win. Our running game is very good but the reason it was able to have so many carries and yards is because Tony converted 3rd downs and made teams pay by extending plays with his mobility and ability to find the open man. No doubt in my mind we win yesterday with Tony in there. Defense gave us a quick 7-0 lead and the run game really wasn't bad it just needed balance.

So Tony get well QUICK please we need you if we're going to have any shot at postseason.

I Disagree. Weeden played so bad that there was ZERO respect for the passing game yesterday, and Arizona already has a great rush D. Orton would have been sufficient for us to win that game yesterday. The D played pretty well for the amount of time they were on the field. The run game was able to grind out some yards. Even a hint of a passing game would have been enough to give Murray more room to run.

Just like Romo couldn't do it alone with no pass blocking and no run game in the past. Murray can't do it with no passing game to help out.

That being said... Get Well Soon Tony!

Passing effectiveness differential predicts who wins NFL football games. I don't think what we saw yesterday changed that very much.

Tony is important part no doubt about it but I think his success will be tied to those around him. I think people have gotten upset with how much Tony makes changes of plays or adjusting routs and blocking assignments but it is those very things that have helped the offense move the chains and put up points. Yesterday for the most part Weeden ran the play that came into the huddle with little to no adjustments but hey we got the plays off before 5 secs on the play clock. lol Maybe some fans will get off Romo butt over the play clock since it is those adjustments that can make the difference in successful plays or failure

I disagree, because it doesnt matter who you put behind tony really...but it does matter who is in front of murray.

it doesn't matter who you put behind tony to go 8-8,
but to have a successful season, it matters who you put around him.... talent equal and above...

this was never a question during the Aikman days, or the Danny White Days...
football is about balance, QB's get the advertisements..... but teams with good team strategy win championships.

Pats showed that yesterday.

When they were in their prime, Orton, Kitna, or even Burlein would have given us a chance yesterday. If Weeden is our QB for the rest of the season I won't be surprised if we don't win another game.

Jacksonville is praying and licking their chops hoping it's Weedon this week.

I love Murray just about as much as anybody.
But Romo is the reason this team does anything.
If we have no passing attack, teams will stack the line and we won't be able to do much.
Yes we will gain some yards in the running game, since Murray will break 2 or 3 long runs like yesterday to pad the stats.
But most of his other runs were for a few yards.
The only person who i have seen take over a game at running back regardless of his quarterback was adrian peterson when he almost broke the single season rushing record a few years ago.

Why would that not be a situation where Peterson was just padding his stats? for all the running he did Minn was still a losing team.

So who was behind tony in 2007, 2008 and 2009? The league leading rusher? Nopeeeeeee.

Minnesota was not a losing team.
They were 10-6 and a wildcard team and adrian peterson carried them to the playoffs
His quarterbacks were Christian Ponder and Joe Webb and he still ran for like 200 yards per game towards the end of that season.

I've said my peace... ride the jock straps of one player if you want... good teams win games, not just one player...
enjoy the rest of this thread....... most just want to argue and claim a win anyway...

a wild card team that was crushed in wildcard game. Minn last good season was with Favre in the lineup. I believe in balance and a strong running game but Minn is not going to do anything until they can get better play from the QB

Go ask Elway as great as he was, if he approached the game and what impact it had when a guy named T. Davis came along.

We also lost two starters from our OLine that was so impressive early, .. but many told me that it was no big deal. Well yes it is.

I expected more from Bernadeau. He was a good starter last year. He was not yesterday.

It's a passing league.

It actually makes me wonder if the Cowboys have a built an offensive philosophy (run heavy offense) more suited for the 1990s than today.

The rules are SO TILTED towards passing it's ridiculous.

This is how bad it is:
  • 7 quarterbacks have a QB rating of 100+
  • 19 quarterbacks have a QB rating of 90+
  • 28 quarterbacks have a QB rating of 80+
It wasn't long ago that 80+ QB ratings was considered the rubicon for average QB play. Now the entire league is above 80 and a pure 90 QB rating is just average.

The Cowboys seem to be bucking the league trend this year (against all of Garrett's instincts), maybe its an emerging strategy for keeping the other teams passing game under control?
