I’ve maintained all off season that if the Cowboys were intent on retaining Prescott they’d have a deal done by the beginning of the season or very soon thereafter.

I’m fine with moving on if that’s our plan but don’t think it is even if we don’t resign him. I believe they have attempted to get a deal done which by all reports we’ve seen and heard would indicate so, just haven’t been able to.

Latest news is Dak wants a long term deal. And Cowboys want more of a shorter deal. Specifics weren’t provided.

I’m ready for the drama to be over. Why not just come out and say we are moving on. It’s why I have to believe they are still trying to get a deal done up to the last minute .

I stand by my message from the beginning that if a deal isn’t done by about the season opener, he’s done in Dallas. No playing the season for a new contract. He’ll bolt .

Despite what the naysayers have believed there’s been no indication the Cowboys haven’t been negotiating and pursuing to resign him. Just because they can’t come to terms doesn’t mean they didn’t have intentions to.

By Dallas wanting a shorter term contract. That tells me they are not sold on him as being able to get it done to go further in the playoffs.
Kind of like we will give you a shorter deal, but you must produce. If you don't, we can then move on. But yet, they like him enough thinking / hoping he can. But want a short leash.

As I said all offseason, I prefer they let him play out his contract. But if he gets signed then ok, he is our QB, I will still root for him as it is team first.
I do not dislike Dak, but just not as sold on him as I used to be. Which I was never 100% "all in" on him either.

I would think that's a good idea of just being honest, but then on the other hand how would that make Dak feel or anyone knowing they wouldn't be back the next season. So in my play, if I threw for 14 int's in a season and bombed in the playoffs would it really bother me????

Cee Dee’s hang up were years as well and then the deal got done. Jerry basically confirmed he’s going to extend Dak in SASS’s interview yesterday.

The worse thing about your post is the fact we could lose Dak at season's end with no compensation.....
I would rather see if Dak would waive his no trade clause and try and get something for him.
This season, is probably not anything special anyway.

Which is even a bigger reason to believe the Cowboys are truly trying to get a deal done .

Why would they just intentionally let him walk without pursuing any compensation?
Doesn’t add up.

You only have a few days until the start of the season. It looks like you'll have your answer soon enough.

There is NO Drama as the majority of the fan base doesn't want Prescott in Dallas.
You and the other Dak Stans are sitting on needles here we already know this is his last season as a Cowboy.
Do you think he will survive this season's tougher schedule?
GL.............as you and Dakko will need it!

If we don't get a deal done and there's no clear answer, does it become a distraction? Jerry loves the circus but that's not all that great for team football.

If Cowboys intention was to let him walk, why not pursue trades for him. Instead they have chosen to let him walk for no compensation. Brilliant!!! Lol

There wouldn’t be as much of a distraction if they announced they weren’t pursuing to resign him.

I agree with this somewhat.......you don't agree to pay a player $55M+ who isn't giving you confidence. You don't gamble that kind of money. Just my take but I think they think he's closer to getting it done than not but the market is elevating his value to where it's becoming too expensive for them wait 3-5 more years. In other words, he's close but if he STILL can't get it done in the next two years, that's it, we are done. JMO

Don't be surprised if/when Dak is signed tonight in the middle of opening night for the NFL season.

Jerry always wants to be front and center.

His focus has always been marketing.
You are the only reasonable logger here on this post...Dak will be signed by Sunday, maybe even on game day! Folks thought it was Ringling Brothers; nooooo...Jerry is in charge of the greatest show on earth!

Jerry in no way will let Dak test free agency...this process is designed to keep dem boys as "headline news."

That’s a fair argument. Every indication from our ownership though is intention to get a deal done .

If they don’t , they don’t . Not the same as initial intention to move on.

Dallas needs America's Choker. Playing ONE additional game after the season and then flaming out is worth 60 million per year.
