You are the only reasonable logger here on this post...Dak will be signed by Sunday, maybe even on game day! Folks thought it was Ringling Brothers; nooooo...Jerry is in charge of the greatest show on earth!

Jerry in no way will let Dak test free agency...this process is designed to keep dem boys as "headline news."
Could be . I actually think Dak is wanting more than Cowboys want to offer.

The bigger argument is what is Cowboys intention.

Some would want us to believe there has been no intention to resign him.

Dallas needs America's Choker. Playing ONE additional game after the season and then flaming out is worth 60 million per year.
Good point . It might be . Jethro has stated remaining relevant and interesting is his initial priority.

If Cowboys intention was to let him walk, why not pursue trades for him
Too late for that.......if he signs, we will look back at this question and know he was never going to walk. I am 100% confident Stephen and Jerry know exactly what it will take to extend him. By that, I mean Todd France has given them exact or range numbers to get it done.

I agree it’s too late for that. Which supports Cowboys intention to resign him.

If they had no intention of resigning they would have negotiated a trade.

So now , letting him walk and receiving no compensation will look even worse for Cowboys.

That's exactly right. The most excited they've been in the last few years is when Cooper Rush lost the game and when Trey Lance played poorly. That tells you everything you need to know about the stans
Ohhh they HATED when we were 4-0 with Rush.

That was the closest I came to never coming to this place again.

Despite what his critics say ( we still want him at any cost) I think MOST Cowboys would agree with you.
The naysayers have maintained the Cowboys had already decided to move on and why a deal hasn’t been done. But there’s no indication or evidence they haven’t been attempting to get a deal done.

If it was their intention from the onset and all of this reporting of negotiations has been a total hoax while not attempting a trade or any compensation, then our FO is even dumber than I thought.

I’ve maintained all off season that if the Cowboys were intent on retaining Prescott they’d have a deal done by the beginning of the season or very soon thereafter.

I’m fine with moving on if that’s our plan but don’t think it is even if we don’t resign him. I believe they have attempted to get a deal done which by all reports we’ve seen and heard would indicate so, just haven’t been able to.

Latest news is Dak wants a long term deal. And Cowboys want more of a shorter deal. Specifics weren’t provided.

I’m ready for the drama to be over. Why not just come out and say we are moving on. It’s why I have to believe they are still trying to get a deal done up to the last minute .

I stand by my message from the beginning that if a deal isn’t done by about the season opener, he’s done in Dallas. No playing the season for a new contract. He’ll bolt .

Despite what the naysayers have believed there’s been no indication the Cowboys haven’t been negotiating and pursuing to resign him. Just because they can’t come to terms doesn’t mean they didn’t have intentions to.
You don't listen to what Jerry has said on the topic? I will remind you. "Ambiguity" Why is that word out of Jerry's mouth so ignored? Without flat-out saying it, it was Jerry's way of not having to answer to his actual decision of not signing Dak until deep into the season OR not at all if Dak sucks.

By Dallas wanting a shorter term contract. That tells me they are not sold on him as being able to get it done to go further in the playoffs.
Kind of like we will give you a shorter deal, but you must produce. If you don't, we can then move on. But yet, they like him enough thinking / hoping he can. But want a short leash.

As I said all offseason, I prefer they let him play out his contract. But if he gets signed then ok, he is our QB, I will still root for him as it is team first.
I do not dislike Dak, but just not as sold on him as I used to be. Which I was never 100% "all in" on him either.
He’s 31 years old so a shorter term deal makes some sense. If they weren’t sold on him being able to get it done to go further in the playoffs they wouldn’t be negotiating a contract with him. They’ll move on.

You do know what "NO TRADE CLAUSE" means, right? They can't just trade him, he has to waive his no trade clause.. and he would only do that if a team he wants to go to was on the other end of that trade and they had a contract he was happy with.

He will be extended, this I have no doubt. As sad as that is. Trading him was never on the table.

The worse thing about your post is the fact we could lose Dak at season's end with no compensation.....
I would rather see if Dak would waive his no trade clause and try and get something for him.
This season, is probably not anything special anyway.
Why would he waive his no trade clause this close to pure free agency when no one has cap room for a long term deal?

I think they have been negotiating, but I will guarantee that Dak wants a NTC regardless of length, and that is likely more of a problem for Jerry than length.

Yes, I know. But if their intention was to let him walk and if Dak was unwilling to waive his NTC then I’d threaten to bench him.

And I agree. The bigger point I was making is if we didn’t intend to resign him we would have at least attempted to have him waive the NTC.

Losing Prescott with no compensation would be a total laughing matter on our ownership.

True. And the evermore reason if our intention was to move on we would have taken a different discourse much earlier.

He has a no trade clause and no reason to waive that clause
