So much (again) that Jerry meddles and makes all the player moves. :muttley:

If it works he will not get credit, it was the coaches.
If it does not work, Jerry gets blamed.

I agree with this to some extent. But I do think the meddling happens..it’s just obvious but less constant. Like I don’t believe for one minute that MM came in, after all his interviews in his cabin saying he’d never let anyone run his offense again and told Jerry “I’d love to have Kellen Moore stay and run things.” That’s a Jerry move like the Garrett stuff. I DONT think he meddles on a large amount of things and think that gets thrown about too often. He just picks his spots where he’s adamant

Jerry is GM so is it meddling when a GM is involved with putting a team together? I'm not debating if Jerry should be GM or not only stating the fact that he is GM and being GM he has to be involved.

Nothing at all wrong with coordinators or position coaches influencing signings of guys already in the league.

In fact I'd hope its the case in our case.

Its when those same people are given a say in the war room is when the problems start.

College scouting is a different beast.

If they can get Surtain & Moehrig in the first two rounds, they have the making of a dynamic secondary. Boom!

That hasn't been the problem here for quite some time. The bigger issue is the lack of consistent direction from the front office. There's a huge vacuum up top, which is why we're they're constantly changing philosophies every few years.
That’s been the real killer
Especially on defense
Every time you change you have players you spent draft capital on who don’t fit
They have to find a direction on defense, hire DC’s that fit it and stick to it
No matter who coaches the Steelers you know what the defense is
You can build on a roster, have drafted young players in waiting when a guy gets to FA

How can the front office have a direction when they just don't know? This is why Parcels wanted a hand in choosing the groceries because he knew the type of players he wanted and the Jonses really don't. They rely on too many people to tell them what to do and then they pick and choose certain bits of info.

If it works he'll get credit for hiring the coaches, as he does for hiring Jimmy. But this "if" has been out there since the 90s. :muttley:

By the way, the same people hiring these coaches also hired the ones who got fired after one season. Best of luck to us.

I wouldn't say assistant coaches (at least the coordinators) having a voice in the War Room during the draft is a big issue.

The problem is when a coordinator goes to bat for a player and then almost immediately putting that same player in the doghouse because he wasn't what the coordinator envisioned.

If a coordinator is so adamant about drafting a player, they better have all the information available and be willing to do everything in their power to get said player to succeed. It does not mean the player will succeed, but some previous coordinators sure seemed to give up on "their guys" very, very quickly.

There are dueling demos...
1)Hate Jerry, wrong no matter what.
2)Love Jerry, it’s players or coaches
3)Everyone’s culpable
