Good post. You have made very valid points here, my reference to 1995 was just to explain the different types of scenario's that teams run into on a yearly basis. Take the Giants last year, they went 10-6 in the regular season, and won the freaking Superbowl!

I would be excited too if I were a Commander's fan. Great teams in NFL history go through adversity always. I am very interested in seeing how the rest of the season will play out now that the pressure of being #1 has been alleviated from the Cowboy's shoulders. I think the past couple weeks will have a direct impact on the rest of the season for Dallas. (As a fan, obviously, I hope its positive). We will see. ;)

And that is why they play the games my friend. The Cowboys will also be 7-1 in 3 weeks and in very good shape for the stretch run

The teams that can hold serve at home, and pick off a few games on the road will be the last standing

TO doesn't have the kind of explosiveness that Santana Moss has of the line, and it's a lot harder to jam a smaller more nimble receiver like Moss than it is to engage a larger target in TO.

that is true, but the Pats jammed up Marvin Harrison pretty good a few years ago

Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce too

That said, it should be interesting to see what lessons the Cowboys have taken from this game next time these two teams meet.

Let's see if Washington can keep up its play until then, I'm fairly confident the Cowboys will be able to.

use Felix Jones often is one lesson, put some real coverage on Moss is another

It is the NFL, NO game is a gimmie at all

Teams have bad days, other teams have good days, "Any Given Sunday" etc etc

However, looking ahead (and I am a fan I am allowed to do that) the team is in terrific shape for the rest of the schedule

There are 3 very winnable games coming up. From that point forward, the toughest competition will all be at home

Simple formula, beat all the "not so good" teams (as it stands currently) and split the hard games (with hopefully a win against the Giants) and the Commanders are 13-3

It is simple enough to look at as a fan :)

Hopefully the players are NOT doing what I am doing

One benefit of having Zorn as coach...he'll get the players fired up to go on the road and beat Seattle...even if Seattle is way below .500 at that point. Otherwise that game could be a potential let down in between the Cowboys and Giants.
