Jerry claims that the team is "All In" this season, that they will be making moves for the now and less about the future. They cannot go into another season with just another draft class and aspect better results. They have real weakness within this roster that have to be upgraded. Stephen's strategy of draft/develop, sign low level stop gap veterans isn't working. Time to open up the books as they can easily create 20-30 million to spend on the open market. Some areas to address in fa:

-Defensive Tackle/Middle Linebacker/Running Back

In the draft you could double up at all these positions and still address OL.

Are you serious???? What money, there is no CAP SPACE for game changing FAs, none, zip, zero! This is the year where the rubber meets the road and it needs to start with Prescot and all the silly talk about an extension. Any talks of extensions need to be tabled forever because Prescot is not going to lead this organization to the promise land, never going to happen. JJ and his idiot sons need to work the phones and find a team that is willing to trade picks that will allow the Cowboys to move up in the draft and take a 1st rd QB who has some serious college big game experience and one who doesn't go MIA when times get tough! Oregon's Bo Nix should be the next Cowboy QB to take this team to a SB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They can easily create more cap space, especially when they are expected to give Dak an extension.

Nobody believes Jerry until we see something. We need to make moves, but be smart about it, don't go out and spend 20 million on a DT, when you can get another DT that's bigger than him and won't cost you as much, maybe you spend that money on a younger upcoming LB in Balt, or instead of 1 DT or 1LB, you get several for the price of what you would have got for one big named DT or one big named LB, just trying to give options

Aren't there plenty of available reference sites already on the internet like spotrac.com? The annual salary cap is announced by the league each year. Should be relatively easy in determining which players contracts could be hypothetically worked in order to increase cap space.

Or is there a question of whether Jones can afford to open his wallet and go 'all in' signing free agents and taking on traded players' existing contracts? The answer would be yes and quite easily. It is one of the benefits of being a multibillionaire and having league revenues divided between teams specifically for team cap spending. TV broadcast rights revenue. cha-CHING.

There may be a question of whether Jones will spend according to how others think he should--and not necessarily because of any cap limitations. That is a question only he can answer.

Stephen reminds me of the guy that never picks up the check. We all know him, it's always someone else who picks up the tab. It will be no different in free agency, other teams will open up their wallets and Stephen will be the guy that says, I'll get the next one.

Would he nice if they did but I doubt it. Lol at no cap space though…..the cowboys can manipulate the cap like every team and get more than enough space to do whatever they wanted in free agency through extensions/restructures and cuts.

Extending Dak will be an admission the FO doesn't give a damn about winning
well get ready, for some reason he isnt doing well in the playoffs, but to avoid having to start over or have controversy let's stay comfortable and go with what we have!

If you think these robber barons are going to spend wild on FAs you're dreaming.
They overspend on existing players who sell jerseys, a la Dak and Zeke. They'll probably do the same with Parsons since he's #1 in jersey sales.
Beyond that look for more Kmart blue light specials..

"All In" means sacrificing future draft picks for current benefit, and pushing cap spending forward- trading away future cap space for current spending.

By that definition, last season was "All In".

Now the bills come due.

Well. Daddy does pick up the check every time, so do not be too hard on DNA Kid #1 not having a big enough allowance. :)

It's time to stop giving max contracts to non elite players or any player that can be replaced cheaper with similar results. 90-95% of the team should be built with a moneyball mentality then you add a big free agent to put your team over the top for a deep playoff run.

Was in Vegas this past weekend for the Super Bowl. Met two guys at the craps table. They were there with Jerry’s attorney. They’re semi connected to the team. Long long story short - they told me Jerry runs the team 1000%. Stephen doesn’t make the cheap decisions around here in FA that many of us believe, myself included. Just saying this bc of the thread title. They both said the team will be in far better hands when Stephen takes over after Jerry passes. Which I argued vehemently against but they were steadfast about it.

Not gonna matter when the Jones's are still the ones making the decisions.
