From a team building perspective, none of the current RBs play STs, but Royce Freeman did. You have a ineffective and inactive RB, so Royce could've played STs and short yardage RB.

Not really I mean did we forget that I just mentioned Ezekiel Elliott had a terrible 2020 with fumbles at one time tiki Barber was known as a fumbler they both fixed their stuff... Besides when you have less carries many times that leads to less fumbles and mistakes because you're not carrying the ball as much... But it turned out Ezekiel Elliott was not a fumbler he just had a bad year with fumbles and tiki Barber fixed his stuff and that's just too off the top of my head....

But again just show me the last two seasons the short one last year the year before show me the fumble 'cause I'm not doing the work for you fake doctor Phil but I still wanna see dalvin cook play in this offense to see if he can help this team..

I also found it ironic that we're all talking about this and Ezekiel Elliott went into the coaching meetings and talked to the ownership about how we can help the team more and he's wondering why his snaps are down we're gonna find out if that means anything this game because if you're not gonna use him you might as well bring in dalvin cook so I hate to be a broken record but he needs a shot..

You have fans on this board that would rather cut him and give Dowdle 20+ carries a game so he can end up injured and worn out by the end of the season. He’s had injury issues so he needs to be spelled at times but good luck convincing some of the fans here.
Well that's not me I think Ezekiel Elliott should be the goal line in short yardage guy with hunter but you can't have both active on the same game day hunter can do pretty much with Ezekiel he can do right now there's no need to bring active game day player if you're only gonna give him 5 snaps therefore you either need to increase his role or sit him down for a few weeks bring up dalvin cook and see what he can do I mean you're wasting the man's opportunities but you're also taking up a spot on this team that's very short handed in a lot of other positions to give a guy like 5 snaps...

So either the coaching staff may listen to Elliot because I heard yesterday he went to have talks with the coaches and the front office to ask them why his role has been reduced and how he can help 'cause he feels like he can help.. Will that get him fenced or will that get his role increased I don't know but I think the problem here is we have a young player who's up and coming with hunter that can do everything about at the same level or maybe even slightly better than Ezekiel Elliott can do right now I mean if Ezekiel elliott's gonna be the short yardage and goal line guy and a great blocker well that's what I see in hunter right now I'm not saying we should cut Ezekiel Elliott but he's taking a spot on this roster unless the coaches increases game day snaps there's no reason to bring him..

I'd sit him down for two or three weeks and bring up dalvin cook and let's see what else we can get out of this run game 'cause as much as Rico looked OK last week he missed a lot of big holes if you look about four games back and you look at some of his games that got 3 or 4 yards there was a hole if he cut back or took a bounce cut or did something with any vision that probably could have been 15 or 20 yards something maybe dalvin cook could do it seems like Rico is a scheme guy meaning he's gonna run the play to the exact spot it's supposed to be no matter if the hole's there or not and he's gonna get as much as he can out of it when I watch some of these runs that they're bragging on like last week if you just looked slightly to the other gap there was a huge hole that if he would have looked he could have cut back or did a bounce cut or whatever it is a lot of instinctual backs do I don't think he's that type of back he just does the job in front of him and I think dalvin cook would be a back that could get some of this meat off the bone you remember that old one take the meat off the bone well I think they're leaving meat on the bone...

We were blaming the offensive line in the scheme for a while but after watching a lot of these replays and patting Rico on the back I'm seeing a lot of bigger holes that could be taken advantage of every now and again and maybe we can have a back you know like no matter what their name is you look over there last night with the San Francisco 49ers what is it with them they lose McCaffrey and this guy Mason I never heard of looks like a frontline starter he gets banged up last night and his third string running back has 10 carries for 99 yards I mean it's ridiculous I would like to have something more out of this offense and if that means sitting Ezekiel Elliott and bringing up dalvin cook just to kick the tires and see if he can get a little more out of this than zeke.

Yeah these coaches have never been wrong about anything...

Hilarious coming from a guy who just makes up excuses for why Zeke sucks now and isn’t productive. Rather than just accept the simple fact that he is old (for a rb) and doesn’t have it physically anymore.

You’ve now moved to “the coaches are holding him back”. Which is laughable beyond belief.

This organization seems to not value roster spots anymore than they seem concerned about being participants in free agency. In regards to Zeke individually I have seen nothing he does that luepke doesn’t do as well or better
That’s the essence of 365 days a year roster evaluation. If you want the best team you can field at any time, you have to be open to change and evolve, even in-season.

If they are going to keep him standing on the sidelines in those situations for which he is absolutely the best suited on the team then yeah, they may as well release Zeke. He can absolutely help the team in that role. If they don't want him to then let the man go play elsewhere.

Most of us said DON'T SIGN ZEKE.

Unfortunately the Cowboys did. Now the big problem (just as I predicted) is they are in a position where he has proven he is done, but won't cut him because of who he is.

You have no idea how much I wish I had been wrong. But this was so easy to see coming.
Jerry loves E , he wanted him back, for no practical reason lol, just wanted him back.
Also maybe dak wanted him back.

NO logic was involved in this.
Similar to lance trade, no logic there either.

Dude keeps bringing up a knee injury that happened 3 years ago, and fails to mention Zeke had a down year prior to that injury

Most of us knew it was unlikely we would resign Tony Pollard last off-season. Many of us hoped Derrick Henry would be on the radar because he would certainly require less than Pollard. But those dreams died quickly amidst all the cap lies the Jones boys fed us all off-season.

When it was announced back in the spring that a washed up Ezekiel Elliott was headed back to Big D to “shore up” a depleted RB position, I believed unless a miracle happened, Zeke wouldn‘t finish the season a member of the Dallas Cowboys. After five regular season games, I think his Cinderella story has become a pumpkin.

In five regular season games so far this year, Zeke has 30 carries for 98 yards, 3.2 yards per carry. He also has 6 receptions for 35 yards, less than 6 yards per catch. Combined, Zeke has 36 touches for 133 yards. That’s 3.7 yards per touch. Ouch.

There is zero room in the NFL for a sentimental roster spot. It‘s time to let Zeke go with thanks for all his glory days in Dallas. Those glory days left the building a few years ago. We can find another RB somewhere who has 3.2 yards per carry and has some upside.

It‘s time to say goodbye to Zeke.
We have two sentimental roster spots with Zeke and Deuce.

this is something nobody understands!!!!!!!!!! Totally agree. The moment I start seeing him get shoelace tackled, and the 2 yard runs, I was like huh???? Then the dreaded "we need to run the offense through zeke" talk, NOPE

It was time for him to go when we got rid of him the first time.
