Double and triple teamed constantly. Highest pressure rate of any player in football when he’s in. On pace to be a hall of famer. Hardest working player in offseason….

Doesn’t show up in big games is such an awful take. He’s played in four playoff games. Take out gb game last year and his defenses gave up 19 points a game on average in the other 3. But because he doesn’t have sacks ppl make stuff up about him not performing. He also ended two games last season just off the top of my head… San Diego and Seattle.

And GB? What would you have liked him to do. When the packers were gashing us to no end.

We did the same thing to ware.. he left and became a champion. Micah is gonna do the exact same thing. The players aren’t the problem.. direct the hate toward the guy responsible for this mess. Stop going to games.

Sometimes when I watch him I can't believe what he is capable of. Sometimes when I watch him it makes me want to find something else to do. He was awful at times that last game.

I like Micah and he is a game changer.

But I can only think of a few games he single handily wrecked like Watt, Garrett, Hutch or Bosa.

You dont trade a Micah and people tend to overreact when the season is bad.
Sometimes you do trade a great player if it will make your team better in the future. See the Hershel Walker trade!!!!

I’m convinced most of this board could very easily be sucked into a cult. All it takes is 1 person to make a false narrative and everyone just runs with it like sheep.
Most of America is made up of sheep. We need more sheep dogs.

He's the new DeMarcus Ware. "Stat padder", "not a leader", "doesn't show up in big games", yadda yadda yadda....

You can start a Hall of Fame player on your defense, and still have a bad team defense. You can start Ware next to Nick Hayden. When teams run it 30 times and blow Hayden off the ball, it doesn't mean that Ware sucks.

 did you see Baldy's video in the thread? I'm not sure if you are talking about Sunday's game but they beat the hell out of him. As Baldy said, they had a plan to erase him and did just that.

Sacks are hard to come by. And it's very routine for fans (of all teams, not just this one) to pan their own double-digit sack leader. I see it all the time on the Intertubes. I mean, I know we'd all like to get 3/game and maybe a little more in "big games". But it's really, really a non trivial ask.

To add on top of that, some opponents may elect to neutralize even great players by double teams, chips, running at them with heavy interference, and/or making them the read man on the option. Yes, that means opponents are conceding part of their plan by altering their scheme. But simplistic fans will just wonder why Ware can't tackle RG3. Or the like. Because simplistic fans don't look at the total optimization, but imagine that you have linearly independent factors to sub-optimize.

The true test of if a sack leader is valuable is not if he meets whatever the Kool Kids on the forum want. It's if he gets paid by another team in free agency. That shows you people with no axe to grind, demonstrating market value for your asset.

I see him more likely becoming a blame everybody else on the planet, except himself once he gets paid.

He’s a one trick pony and his one trick only works against bad teams.

He’s horrible in run support and can’t play a full drive without coming out a few plays.

He can have games where you wouldn’t know he was playing if you wasn’t looking for him.

He's NEVER been the guy that made a big play when the defense needed it.

He looks completely disinterested when he or the team isn’t playing well.

He, more so than any player I’ve seen, has “will quit when paid” written all over him. He has too much outside of football stuff going on and adding generational wealth to it will only make it worse.

There is NO WAY I make him the highest paid defensive player ever.
Agree about most of this. The outside stuff doesn’t add or subtract to the quality of his game.

Let’s clear some things up. Micah isn’t “horrible” in run defense. He is statistically pretty average.

Micah’s “one trick” - rushing the passer - is one of the most valued “tricks” in the NFL. And he’s statistically awesome at that trick.

Imagine you’re in a survival situation, where you have to rely on yourself to fend off the elements. Live off the land. Survive woodland predators.

Would you rather have an excellent knife with a good sized blade, or a Swiss Army Knife?

I and anyone else who has used a Swiss Army Knife, will tell you to take the regular knife, because most of the tools on a Swiss Army Knife are either useless in a real world situation, or don’t work well enough to matter. It’s a “well rounded” tool that is merely ok at doing what it’s designed to do.

Give me the specialist tool that is extremely good at what it is supposed to do.

I view this whole Micah nonsense in a similar manner. I don’t think he’s a “one trick pony” - because stats prove otherwise. He’s good at other things besides rushing the passer.

But even if he wasn’t, his one “trick” is still incredibly valuable to NFL teams, and would be much more effective with a better DL next to him.

The cowboys have maybe the worst defensive line in the NFL outside of Micah. Certainly it’s bottom 10.

But yes. Let’s dump the all pro pass rusher because he isn’t perfect.

The cowboys defense was absolutely trash garbage for like a decade before Micah arrived.

HE was the catalyst for the major defensive improvement more than Dan Quinn was.

The defense will go back to being crap if the cowboys get rid of him. Because the clowns in the front office have damn sure proven they can’t build a competent DL outside of him.

Yes. And nobody else stepped up because everybody else on the DL is garbage.

There is not one other player in the front 7 that opposing offenses fear. Not a single solitary one. Overshown was getting there but his knee is likely destroyed for good.
