It makes me sick how teams like the Packers and Colts have been so fortunate.
Going from Manning to Luck; and from Favre to Rodgers.
Meanwhile you have teams like the Browns that seemingly havent been set at QB since the Brian Sipe days.

I also think we better get some serious discussions going about our next QB. Trouble is, I'm not so sure that Jerry can pick one and not sure Garrett can develop one.

Come on, You forget about Bernie??!!! and he was our backup in his twilight years none the less:D.
But yes, I hope Jerry is proactive, yet don't force feed us "some guy" like he tried to sell us on mcgee. I truly believe the next 3yrs will yield some excellent QB's in the draft.

Honestly, yes I did forget Kosar. Thats a good job by you. He was pretty good in Cleveland so I stand corrected...but the overall point remains. Some teams get so lucky and others can go decades without finding the right QB.

Colts got fortunate. Packers did not really. The Colts situation was different because they got the #1 pick because Manning got hurt for the year. So they transitioned one franchise QB to what seems to be another as of now. With no gap in between. 2 playoff appearances in 2 seasons so far with Luck.

Packers on the other hand started looking even when Favre was still playing great ball. Rodgers was drafted in 05 I believe. Favre was far from done at that point. He played another 5 or 6 seasons. They did their homework and got the guy they wanted. And they also transitioned very smoothly between the 2.

Cowboys actually got very fortunate because if it wasn't for Quincy getting arrested, Romo would have been cut. No one would have thought of it at the time.

The only 2 QBs worth anything that has won Jerry playoff games, he had nothing to do with. Jimmy wanted Aikman. And Romo was not even drafted. And was placed on the practice squad and kept around because Parcells saw a little something in him. Nothing to do with Jerry.

But in between Aikman and Romo was all Jerry. And we know how those 13 or so QBs were. Beyond pathetic. That's what scares me. He has no idea how to draft and this coaching staff has no idea how to develop a QB.

Thing is, Jerry may be too scared to draft a rookie QB and develop him. He may try and go the veteran route to plug a hole ala Vinny and Bledsoe.

I can live with the Packers' success.

They did things the right way. They took Rodgers in the late 1st round because they had a good record the previous season. They saw the forest for the trees and said that Brett Favre wasn't going to last forever. They allowed Rodgers to sit on the bench and learn the game. Then they made an ultra-tough decision in letting Favre go so Rodgers could start. Not many organizations, even the Patriots, would do that. They reaped the rewards of doing things the right way and having enough foresight to look at the future.

The Colts sicken me because they were able to get 2 great QB's by sucking. They were a joke of a franchise before Peyton got there. And Peyton gets injured and they go 2-14 without him. All of those years of hearing how brilliant Bill Polian is was nothing but a farce because once they lost Peyton, they became a historically awful team. They didn't do anything but be fortunate enough to have the 1st overall pick in years where the 2 best QB prospects in the last 2 decades were headed for the pros.

Ive been saying this for years, yet we go ahead and sign this 34 year old QB who hasn;t won us a DAMN thing in 8 years to a contract extension.

A playoff game and multiple division titles are now considered not a dam thing?

2009 playoff game against the Eagles.........................Romo actually won a playoff game as much as yall would like to pretend he didnt....................he also has 23 4th quarter comebacks. Those are games where the team is losing in the 4th quarter and Romo leads the team on a game winning drive.

I know you guys like to pretend he just chokes every game, but those 23 4th quarter comebacks in second in the NFL behind Peyton Manning since Romo became a starter in 2006.

BOOM....................Truth Bomb just blew up your thread.....................sorry.

No disrespect to your opinion.. I believe it has some validity… (although I can't believe we're still doing the good/bad romo thing)

But the only thing that matters in Dallas is Superbowls…. been to 8, won 5….. and since the last, we haven't done squat.
