And Mo wasn't a very good college player?
Are you going to now tell us you thought he sucked....

A good player on Saturday, no matter how he looks agains lesser college players, does not mean he will be grat in the NFL going up against better players.
The draft is a crap shoot a good part of the time.

So after 1 game, well 2 in college...who is the player you think we need to draft?

No i'll give him a pass on Mo b/c many ppl htought he was going to be good but he over paid for him though.

I don't think people said they weren't that bad. I think most of us said the defense wasn't as BAD as we expected. There's a difference. In a game full of terrible play......there's nothing wrong with looking for some positives. The defense was a surprise. Not great but they didn't look like the worst defense in the league.

I don't know why you think the draft is a crap shoot, Seattle has the best defense in the NFL by a country mile. THey drafted all their secondary, if it was a crapshoot then are you saying they just got blind lucked into those players?

All of them? No.

Several of them? Absolutely.

Otherwise Kam Chancellor would've been drafted in the first.

It's a crap shoot.

I don't think I've heard anyone say our defense is great or even good this year. I have heard people say they didn't play badly against the 49ers. They didn't play great either, but it wasn't as bad as most expected, at least for that one game.

That said, I don't think anyone has any misconceptions about our defense this year.

I don't think it was a fair game to even judge our defense. The 49'ers got way ahead early and then played very conservatively. So while it looks like our defense held them, in reality the 49'ers just did what it took to win the game. It's hard to truly judge our defense after that game but I don't feel good about it.

They did but let's be honest. Last year when teams would simply run the clock out.....we could do nothing to stop them. Even if they went kind of vanilla in the last quarter of the game.....did you have any faith this team could even stop them even being vanilla and conservative and just chewing up the clock? I know I didn't.

They also spent BIG money on Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin, spent a 1st rounder on Bruce Irvin, James Carpenter in the 1st......their drafts have been just as bad as ours if not worse. They hit on a few 4th and 5th rounders and hit BIG but its a crap shoot. They've wasted 1st and 2nd round picks. Didn't even have a 1st round and 3rd round pick one year because they traded it for Percy Harvin.

If Jerry had made these moves y'all would've been LIVID.

I'd say the more "fans" that fall off the Cowboy band wagon the better. :)

Yea its becoming annoying now to the point your "Waiting for Locker to destroy us"? Unbelievable. Some of these guys i'm convinced are fans of other teams simply trolling us. I've always believed that there's about 30% of the members on this site who aren't really fans just trolling us.

Lmao wait till Locker cuts our defense in ribbons, what will you blind loyalists say then?

I'd say send a suicide blitz and shut him down. And then I cry some more since we can't get the ball to Dez...

What I wish I knew was who they valued long-term across the defensive line because it's truly going to be a rebuilding project, much like the offensive line.

Do they love Brent? Is Selvie a stop gap or do they want him to start at DE if everyone is healthy. Who are going to be the center pieces across this DLine for years to come? They sure seem to like Coleman a lot.
DE 30 Mincey, Jeremy - Looks like a good stopgap this year and maybe next.
DE 24 Crawford, Tyrone - He was the starter. Is he the future starter at LDE or do they need an upgrade?
DE 27 Selvie, George - Backup. Future unknown.
DE 24 Edwards, Lavar - Difficult to evaluate. Looked OK. Has only had 1 week to learn scheme and came from a 3-4.
DE 26 Crawford, Jack - Will he play this week?
DE 30 Spencer, Anthony - Not sure why they didn't keep him on PUP. Age and injury issues are a big question.
DE 22 Lawrence, DeMarcus - Hopefully a top starter in the future.

DT 27 Melton, Henry - Looked good in limited snaps. Still reasonably young. Previous Pro Bowler.
DT 23 Coleman, Davon - Better than expected for a UDFA at this point.
DT 24 Bishop, Ken - Better than expected for 7th round pick at this point. Already better then Hayden, IMO.
DT 26 McClain, Terrell - Looked really good in 2013 and terrible as a rookie on 2011. Excellent reviews in OTAs, then injured in TC.
DT 28 Hayden, Nick - Do they need him once T. McClain is 100%? If Josh Brent returns, then definitely no need for Hayden, IMO.

DT 26 Brent, Josh - Still only 26. Was a very strong player, but never overly quick. Was he a Marinelli type player even at this previous peak? Bishop probably has better quickness.
DT 27 Okoye, Amobi - I don't see him being activated unless injuries occur at DT.
DT 23 Whaley, Chris - A developmental prospect currently on IR.

RDE - The combination of Lawrence and Mincey should be good when Lawrence returns. Mincey might even be OK for next season playing mostly run downs with Lawrence on passing downs. I guess Spencer will get snaps at RDE at some point before Lawrence returns.

DT3-tech - Melton already looks good despite no preseason. Coleman has improved every week of the preseason and continued that in game 1.

DT1-tech - McClain and Bishop might be really good as they get time in this defense. Hayden is a stopgap. Will they even need Josh Brent if Bishop and McClain progress?

LDE - Crawford should be good against the run which is a big part of the LDE position in this defense. Will Selvie's shoulder get better or do they move Edwards or Jack Crawford over there? When Lawrence returns to RDE, does Mincey move to LDE in the Nickel. Mincey has often moved to DT in the Nickel in the past, but I don't know if that's a big of a need at this point with Melton, Coleman and McClain having Nickel DT type ability.

Summary: The DL was the biggest worry for most fans in the off-season, but it might turn out to be the strength of the defense. The LB depth is looking thin and the DBs were a bit disappointing in game 1.

Yes, I'm absolutely convinced there are fans of other teams that post here on a regular basis. I call it 2nd level trolling. A 1st level troll would just come here talk trash and get banned; however, a 2nd level troll would integrate themselves into the message board pretending to be a Cowboys fan while continually making negative posts about the team.

There was a Cowboys fan a few years ago, that posted on another Cowboys message board about how he pretended to be a Skins fan on their board and constantly had them in an uproar.

Oh i'm well aware lol. I like your level's of trolling lol. Its true though. This is common. I know guys that do this as well. They don't go FULL Troll because they will be banned immediately. But they throw a couple of posts out there that can be deemed something a Cowboy fan will say. Such as "Jerry sucks" or "Romo sucks". They get a couple of likes received and then they proceed to go full troll by saying things like "Locker will go off on us.....". Which very well could happen but a Cowboy fan wouldn't say something like that.

lol so a guy makes a thread about something nobody has said, and starts slamming jerry like everybody else loves him and disagrees with how bad he is at drafting....weird thread.

I have to admit that I've done that before. Even then (and I hate the Skins), I wasn't as blatant as this guys first post was.
