Marrone was a pretty solid HC in Buffalo. They were on the cusp of being a playoff team when he opted out. I dont think he is a great HC, but he is solid.

However Ive heard Bortles has a bit of a drinking problem and thats gone a long way towards his regression in 2016. They could be sunk with him

Solid moves. That franchise needs all the help they can get...maybe Marrone can be a young Coughlin

Not a fan of this move. Re-thread of mediocre former HC.

Contract length is interesting - to end of 2019 season. Is this an interim appointment leading up to their relocation to London possibly as early as 2020?

This why the Jags are the Jags. Hiring a guy that was a .500 coach in college and a below .500 coach in the pros and expecting him to suddenly become a winner.

I was hoping the Coughlin face would return to an NFL sideline.

Both Syracuse and the Bills had miserable talent when Marrone came there. Syracuse went 5-37 in the 4 years prior to Marrone. The Bills were 22-42 in the previous 4 seasons to Marrone.

And that was being saddled with EJ Manuel as your first round pick.

I think Marrone is a good coach and I think he could be a great coach if he stays in one place for more than 3 years.

yup and led them to the playoffs. He is a good coach with 2 SB under his belt. Can't argue with what he has achieved.
I thought so, I know one year he got close, and Fox was the coach of Carolina, and he did make it to SB before he too was let go.

Just a thought, but giants let him go, so they could make mckadoo HC and he was supposed to be the offensive genius.
Now this year the offense was just awful and was reason they limped into playoffs and got beat badly in GB.

Which is similar to when Rams won SB with vermiel, then forced him to retire, so they could make mike marx the HC,
they didnt want to lose him, and he was supposed to be off genius, and they never won another SB, and went downhill
Each season.

Cowboys made their Off genius the HC, but were smart enough to hire another OC.
