That's my tight end. The other one with the franchise deal could kick rocks. Jags can be replaced with other jags.

Guess he got excited that Schultz is refusing to practice because of his contract dispute. There do seem to be some No. 1 tight end reps up for grabs at the moment.

Barring any major injury, i can see Jake easily replacing Schultz after this season...sure wish Dallas shouldn't have signed him on a franchise tag. Jumped the gun on it. But it is what it is. He can go get overpaid somewhere else.

Shultz is on the tag, get the Wisconsin kid up to speed and let Shultz walk next year. Yes, I’m a believer of rolling the dice Bigly!
..that's what probably going to happen. As saying goes, "$hit happens"...

My guy I'm with you, we could have bypassed all of this convo.
We love our Cowboys. I enjoy debating with you. You seem like a true fan that does not have an agenda. I get your issues with Shultz. I just think we fans get caught up to much with the cap because Stephen acts like it’s a problem. As I am texting this response I see the Rams extended Cooper Koph. Do the Rams even have a salary cap.

Rumors were before free agency the Jets wanted him. Shultz would not have gotten franchised if he had no market.

And the Titans IIRC.

He had a FA market, and there were talks that some teams saw him as the #1/2 TE this FA class.

His cap hit isn't terrible, especially since a team could come to a long term agreement right away to take that 11mil cap hit off the books within a day if they wanted to.

I'm hopeful that this guy is a great addition, but man, some of you already have him in the HoF, and he hasn't played an NFL down yet.

Yeah only the pro scouts on this board think he is a bum. The Titans like are players. They really wanted Tyler Smith supposedly. I wonder if they will regret picking Burks at 18 instead of Smith.

So you think Dalton should take less then the Cleveland tight end?:huh:. If the Cowboys don’t want to pay him, they should have let him walk. See how much he gets on the open market.
Trade him for a first.... lol. Dexter Coakley. Every season people thought we should trade him. Fun times.

I think every player should maximize their earnings. This is a tough game and any play could leave you unable to play or even walk or worse. Get it while you can. However I do not believe in holdouts. He signed the tag. He is under contract. He is being paid over 10 mil this year fully guaranteed. Show up for work and do your job. If 10 mil wasn’t worth the risk to him he shouldn’t have signed the tag.

The Cowboys are only paying Dak crazy money and he is not getting top 5 quarterback money anymore. The cap is going up and up. Nobody is playing for cheap anymore.

It really doesn't matter if he's getting top QB money or not. What matters is how much of the cap he is taking up. I think Rodgers is highest paid, and his cap hit for 2023 will be 31.6M.

Dak's 2023 cap hit will be almost 50M as it stands now. Dallas would have to push 20M into the future to add to the 25M they already have, just to get it to where Rodgers is. But I don't think they're doing that next year.

You guys act like it’s your money. I will never understand fans who complain about players wanting to live the American dream.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't care about what the players are living. Not one iota. I care about how their pay affects the cap. I care about the team, not the players. If there was no cap, I wouldn't give a rodent's posterior about how much they're being paid.

Don't worry about the franchise tag. It's not like they were going to use that on anyone else. It would have just rolled over to next year. No harm done.

Dak’s cap hit will never be that high. He will continue to restructure like all quarterbacks and great players. The Cowboys are have one of the best cap situations in the league. You sound like Stephen.
