Oh goody, Gruden has a new QB toy. Maybe Gruden can do for Plummer what he did for Gannon late in his career. This move after extending Chris Simms definitely strengthens their QB corp.

Denver's front office is pretty fantastic. They have little use for Plummer, and yet they might get a mid-round pick out of it.

They will also have to find a backup for Cutler. It will be interesting to see who they may be looking at for that role.

Funny ... Plummer was the last QB to win a playoff game in Texas Stadium.

That's sad.

PLUMMER RETIRES

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that quarterback Jake Plummer has retired in lieu of being traded to Tampa.

Word of the trade broke earlier this morning, but recent published reports suggested that Plummer might pack it in.

Plummer has played 10 NFL seasons. We have a weird feeling that, after a year or so on the sidelines, he might be lured back. The Cardinals, for example, will need a backup after Kurt Warner retires, and it would be fitting for Plummer to end his career there.

What the hell...he retired to kill the trade?

:lmao2: :lmao:

I am disappointed, I really wanted to see him down here in Houston to keep Texan fans miserable.

Report: QB Plummer to retire

NFL.com

(March 2, 2007) -- NFL Network's Adam Schefter has learned Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer is expected to announce his retirement.
Earlier today, it had been reported that the Broncos agreed to terms on a trade that would send Plummer to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. That trade is expected to be nullified due to Plummer's decision to retire.
Plummer has played 10 seasons in the NFL. A second-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 1997, he played six seasons in Arizona before signing with Denver in 2003. He led the Broncos to the 2005 AFC Championship Game, but was replaced as the starter late in the 2006 season by rookie Jay Cutler

I'll believe he is serious when he turns in the retirement papers to the league.

I bet it is Jake trying to force the Broncos hand so they trade him to the Texans. Why learn a new offense and new terminology when you can just reunite with Kubiak.

I agree. I think that is exactly what he is trying to do.

Or Denver releases him so he can sign with Houston

Flexing on Plummer's part. He wants to control his own destiny.
