He is not even in the same league as Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, or Sean Taylor.

Heck Sean Taylor had 10 interceptions in one season at the U, & likewise, Ed Reed had 9 interceptions in one season at the U.
Those guys were game changers in college, big-time hitters, had timely interceptions, were team leaders, & were finalists for post-season awards - such as the Jim Thorpe Award.
And those guys were picked below #4 in their respective drafts.

Pick #4 requires impact football players & game changers - not athletes who can run around the defensive backfield chasing slot receives.

Here's some issues or questions I have with Ramsey's ability at CB. At the combine he was out done by my boy Nick Vigil 6'2" 240 lb LB from Southern Utah in the 3 cone drill and 20 yard shuttle. Yea he's fast and can jump high and he better because with subpar change of direction and short area quickness he's gonna be chasing the WR after the catch.
He's more athlete than football player to me.

If he's there, he'll be the choice. But I don't know about investing so much draft stock into the safety position.

no,i am suggesting the chargers will take below market value to trade down.

Oh okay... because you said "the Chargers are not a big fan of Jerry"... implying that they would trade with someone just to spite him...
could've left Jerry out of it.

Claiborne has left me shell shocked. Not sure if I can take another like that.

Completely different style of player.

Claiborne is a cover guy that has no physicality to his game. Ramsey is the complete opposite.

That's what I see as well.

I'm no expert, but doesn't he look kind of clunky changing directions?

Vigil had a better 3 cone and 20 ss than Josh Norman too (ramsey was better than Norman in both categories). Ramsey can be a top cb but it wont be year 1 and he has to become a student of the game. Its really all on him because he has the talent.

Taking Ramsey all but confirms the Cowboys have no clue what they are doing in the secondary.....

If this is the pick...then why restructure Carr?

One year later...and this team still doesn't know what it has in Jones..is he a CB or FS?

If we take Ramsey...then all your doing is complicating the situation even more. What if Ramsey and Jones best position is FS?...and neither can play CB?

The pick should be a QB.....Lynch

If Ramsey turns out to be another case like Mo, I think that will force the Cowboys to never ever draft a CB again in the first round or at least for a very long time.
Watch them miss out on a Dion 2.0 during that time frame.

So now stop the jinx.:flagwave:

Carr agreeing to the pay cut, does not keep us from cutting him later

While I can see a situation where both of them are better at FS, based off their skill sets, I don't see how either player could be unable to play CB

I like Lynch, a lot more than most, but there's no chance I take him at #4 and I think some team surprises us and takes him before he is in range for us to trade up.

Why I took Jalen Ramsey in NFL Nation mock draft

By Todd Archer

On Tuesday night, NFL Nation got together for our annual mock draft. In the prime-time special, I took Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey with the fourth overall pick to the Dallas Cowboys.

Why? I went with the best player available.

In any draft, any year, Ramsey would be considered among the best players. Is Joey Bosa worth the fourth pick or is he more highly considered because the pass-rush class is not that strong in 2016? Making an argument for Ezekiel Elliott at the fourth overall pick is a lot easier. He can do for the Cowboys what DeMarco Murray did for the Cowboys in 2014.

But is a running back worth a selection that high with an offensive line that is good as the Cowboys’ line? Do you need a runner who would likely add, say, another 500 yards to the team’s run total by the end of the season that badly? The Cowboys ran for 2,354 yards in 2014 with Murray. In 2015 with Darren McFadden as the lead rusher, they ran for 1,888 yards despite having Tony Romo and Dez Bryant on the field together for a combined three games.

Is an additional 466 yards worth that type of pick?

Brandon Carrto accept a pay cut and re-signing Morris Claiborne. There is concern over the lack of interceptions Ramsey had at Florida State. He had just three.

The Cowboys use Sean Lee as an example of a player who the ball just seems to find. It’s a tremendous trait and one the Cowboys need more of.

In 2012, the Cowboys traded up to the sixth overall pick to take Claiborne. He had 11 interceptions in his career in college. He was their highest-rated corner in the draft since Deion Sanders. The ball seemed to find him.

In his first four seasons with the Cowboys, Claiborne has recorded three interceptions. He’s never had more than one in a season.

Ramsey might not have shown the ball skills some want while at Florida State, but he wasn’t devoid of plays.

His change of direction is outstanding his hips area as fluid as they get. Some of the evaluation on Ramsey is way off, he is simply impact. Dallas would be very lucky to land him.

NFLN reporter based with Chargers said they are not in love with Tunsil or the DE prospects including Buckner and are looking at Ramsey hard.

Essentially said they think Tunsil is athletic but needs work and that they think they can get DL help in other rounds.

They are open to trades but no calls yet.

Pretty much the opposite of what I see. He is a fluid athlete as long as he isn't asked to make quick, decisive cuts. His hips are sluggish, but he's so fast and athletic, he's able to compensate, at least at the college level. He'll outjump just about anyone and does a good job undercutting crossing routes, but too frequently his late breaks put him in too much of a trailing position on routes over the middle.

He just doesn't look at all natural in coverage. His anticipation is slow and he doesn't get his head around when his back is to the play.

Hips look clunky to me, when changing direction. I was expecting someone super smooth but was surprised when he wasnt
